In researching the Yin-Yang symbol I found another interesting way of looking at the
Yin-Yang Sybol at taoism.about.com

"The black and white halves of the Yin-Yang symbol are similar to the two sides of a coin. They are different, and distinct, yet one could not exist without the other. The circle itself - which contains these two halves - is like the metal (silver, gold or copper) of the coin. It is what the two sides have in common - what makes them "the same."

"When we flip a coin, we will - in terms of the imprints - always get either "heads" or "tails," one answer or the other. Yet in terms of the essence of the coin (the metal upon which the "heads" and "tails" symbols are imprinted) the answer will always be the same."

Pity those poor Victorians who had to stand for so long in those long exposure portraits!
I made the penny farthing bicycle from the source image.
I used a reference photo to figure out how to make it.

THis is a nice clean, cleaver entry. There is room for improvement on the masking. Try using a smaller brush or use the pen tool to cut things out. Good luck!

Very interesting because you illustrated a literal idiom by incorporating a different figurative idiom, specifically, illustrating the abstract notion of thought as a 'light bulb moment.' I personally think a lit bulb would be a better depiction of a 'light bulb moment,' plus more than one bulb would better conform to the plural thoughts.

They don't use US pennies in Britain...

avatar DanLundberg

Basic concept is good. U.S. pennies would work if you used a plausibly U.S. environment. A less-obstructed-sides, country-lane-like background would allow you to make the fireman bigger and thus the focus. The perspective of the pennies seems slightly off (not quite squished enough) to be flat with the pavement.
