Techniques used:
Puppet Warp for the rope, lug and knot. Selective Gausian blur in the background, a bunch of image adjustments (levels, curves, Gradient map [yes, this isnt actually just black & white]), the filter "lightnig effects" & the burn tool to illuminate everything right. and quite a lot more, I cant remember. This Chinese Dragon was created from the source photo. All details are in my SBS. Thanks to nasirkhan at morguefile.com for the fireworks photo. (5 years and 3445 days ago)
Some areas seem a bit over stretched, but all in all it's a fantastic image! Very creative and wonderfully made. Great job in capturing the festive atmosphere.
Thanks for your comment, Ponti. I spent a lot of time researching Chinese parade dragons even before I started this project. . I really think this is pretty close to how most of them look. I can't use all the references in my SBS, there were so many, and also not on sites where I would free to show them in my SBS. All in all, this version is my own version of all those I found.
Simply fantastic!
Nice and unique work, love the colors too

Great work author.
The making of this character is great as usual and your style is easily recognizable. I just suggest one thing: you can do something different and better than that . Don't take it offensive, my friend, breaking the habit is the good way to improve, I think .
@Langstrum, thanks for that... will keep that in mind....

I couldn't help laughing when I saw the expression of its face... Funny! And beautiful colors!
Great expression! Love this, though it is a little flat in spots.
nice..
Awesome!
Very funny creature & ditto style. Minor improvement can be to cut off a part of the grass (personally I'd say the lower half), so there's even more focus on the bird itself (imo the green is a tiny bit too "heavy" for the image), but ok it's also up to you. Good luck!
Edit: yeap, good adjustment, imo
Thanks wazowski you right!! I made the changes and looks much better
Great use of source! It looks very ready... I hope just one tulip is enough! Good luck!

Interesting. Edges of the horse aren't as crisp as those of the warriors so it doesn't seem to fit. I'm not a jockey, but it seems to me that the rider is sitting too far back on the horse. As for the concept overall, I confess that I don't get it.
cool idea!
