Rebel Biker Babe - created by spaceranger

Rebel Biker Babe
Favs: 2SBS: 6Hi-resRank: 2/17Score: 66.5% (32)30843 views

On a snowy ice world a lovely rebel uses her feminine charms and a good blaster to steal a speeder bike from an unsuspecting scout trooper during a heated battle with soldiers of The First Order. Being a native of the ice world she's well adapted to the cold climate giving her and her compatriots an advantage over the enemy forces. X-Wings attack from the rear surprising the enemy troops and ultimately stopping their onslaught.

I really enjoyed working on this, PixelSquid has some great images and gives a fun alternative to the usual contests. I hope we see more PixelSquid contests in the future.

Renders are not useable sources.

5.6. 3D Renders or Illustrations as Source:
Using other people's 3D renders or illustrations (even with permission and no matter in which form they are offered) creates a false impression of your artwork. So 3D renders or illustrations can not be used as sources, unless they are entirely created by yourself. Only acceptable non-illustration brushes and clip art may be used, but you need to mention them as a source too. Don't use an image that has been altered by the source owner nor an entire work created by someone else.

author says:

I didn't use someone elses "render", the sources were 3D files as shown by the wireframes in the SBS, and I rendered myself as I have done many times with entries on this site in the past unless the rules have changed. Further, I created a unique image using portions (not whole) parts of the 3D files.

Have the rules changed in this regard since the site started back up?

avatar spaceranger

The use of 3D wireframes or mesh has always been allowed. The author did not use 3D renders but rendered them using the wireframes to create the final image as is shown in the SBS.

5.7. Models Created with 3D Programs such as "Poser":
If you use a 3D program to create a model or render (eg. with Poser), post a screenshot of the wireframe, so we can verify it's not someone else's work.

author says:

Thanks for the clarification, appreciated!

I saw all the subtle but wonderful textures and shinny parts of the helmet and decided to make some sort of robot woman. Everything is made from the helmet, minus the pieces of glass which is just used pen tool. I did use one source for the body position, but you can't actually see any of that actual picture in my finished product. (5 years and 2977 days ago)

Thanks a lot!!!!! I try and be as detailed as possible, because a lot of entries look cool until you open them in high res and realize the blending and detail is actually lacking.

author says:

thanks everyone! and Greexman, true it has a good amount of painting, but only adding shadows and highlights. Plus, if you looked at the highres I used the screw from the source a billion times! and the vizor is from the source, and the gun is all made of pieces of the source, basically I'm saying is sorta disagree, the picture would certainly not have turned out as it did without the source. But I'm glad you like it either way and I appreciate all the feed back
