Far far away on a planet unknown to humans, stands an ancient staircase leading up to the heavens amidst a beautiful scene of a galaxy swallowing a planet whole!!

Gets a bit purple out there, too, don't it?

You would have done well to find pictures of galaxies instead of the brushes you used. I am a supporter of using brushes to enhance an image, however I do think that some of them tend to miss the mark. There are tons of awesome astral photography shots in creative commons on flickr if you look, and perhaps in the future that will be something you consider.

Devastated by radiation bombardment the ancient freighter nears the end of it's millennia long voyage as it's drawn towards a gravity well. The long dead crewman drifts along side his ship his dead eyes witness to countless wonders.

Another drawing on photoshop I created all from scratch, earlier than the one below!

In this drawing I as well used circular marquee a lot and the gaussian effect. To create the nebula in the top left i used A LOT of brushes and other effects such as Color dodge and more. I used the layer settings as well to tweak up the glowing effects of everything. And finally finished it off with a solar flare shining behind the planet to give it its sunrise effect. marina08 says:

I like the effect of the near asteroids, but the background could use a little work (the nebula and the star shines).

avatar CMYK46
CMYK46 says:

Lens flare needs to go too...

author says:

The Bad part about the asteroids is that it doesn't match.. For some reason when I used the same settings in layer options it didn't work... But the point of the asteroids is to tie the pic together and provide depth .. And the lens flare is just part of the sun behind the planet .. I should have probably put the opacity down a little bit because it is allittle over powering !!!

avatar CMYK46
CMYK46 says:

It's always better to do your own lighting effect than just pop in a lens flare, which we have all seen a million times.

author says:

Hmm that is true... But idk what kind of lighting effect besides that would work... Maybe the solar rays ???
