Spring Celebration
Favs: 8SBS: 12Hi-resRank: 1/6Score: 61.4% (35)8066 views

Only the source photo was used. Forsythia blossoms are created from one of the letters on the sign, lavendar flower stems are created from many, many, many small stars, pussy willows from a letter in the sign. Background is created from the entire sign, then duplicated and scaled many times. Please see my SBS for all the details. In the meantime, please enjoy a touch of springtime and celebrate with me that spring is finally arriving. (5 years and 3181 days ago)

I don't know... hmmmm....

Well the flowers are to Flowery.. and the vase is to vasey.. and the background is to backgroundy... etc.. etc.. etc...

Instant fav.. and a Woo HOO.. I'd do a back flip but my rump is too big and I wouldn't want to have to sue you for having to use a walker.. giggle snort

Really is a great creative image.. the lock of the glowing dome in the background is AWESOME

author says:

Thanks, MossyB, and to you, Drivenslush, You are a hoot!!!! You made my day!! (especially since the weather man just forecast up to 6 inches of new snow by the end of this week - will it ever end?????)

I'm startin' to catch on here...nice job, author! Really love the touch of the fallen flowers. Perhaps vary the intensity and hue of the pale yellow petals a bit more...but overall...wonderful!

Really nice blending and colors. You improve with every piece you enter!

avatar CMYK46
CMYK46 says:

Snow effect should be in front as well as behind the foreground images, otherwise nice job.

avatar Brunheroti

very nice job...

author says:

CMYK, I did put the layer over the entire merged image, and even added a few strokes of snow afterwards. The only snow filter I can use with my Adobe 7 program is pretty dark in background, so has to be reduced quite a bit in order to see through it. May add some more. Thanks for your input.

The focus of the bird to the left and naturally letting your eyes glide to the right...rest of the image is brilliant. Really nice composition!

This rocks! Maybe could have left the backdrop a bit darker and used blur, but thats neither here nor there. The fact you saw the bird in the leaf, and brought it out puts it over for me.

Cherry blossoms make me think of the Orient. Thanks to kinberlyn at flckr.com for the Oriental window; to Paco CT at flckr.com for the masks; the bamboo source is my own; blossoms in arrangement were made with brush tools using closeups of source as reference. Pattern layer over background is made from source photo. (5 years and 3229 days ago)

Thanks to:
mqtrf, for the pics of the bird and butterfly.
Clinge, for the pic of the blue butterfly.
MaddieMeyer, for the pic of the beautiful girl in red.

The rest is PS and brain work. (5 years and 3230 days ago)

Where's the horizon line?

author says:

CMYK: There is no horizon line in this image. It is just a background, with some texture all around.

avatar CMYK46
CMYK46 says:

Sorry, I should have said waterline.

author says:

Do not be sorry Bob: I got wild smudging around, and lost it.... but put it back.....

avatar Mad
Mad says:

I think the butterflies and girl need to be better blended and adjusted to look as if they actually belong in this environment. Although you've used a reflection, it's not all gelling together very well. Maybe try playing around with the hue-sat levels of the girl and add some filters and highlights to her to make her look like she belongs in this pink, dreamy universe.

avatar Drivenslush

lots of fun put into this.. good luck author

avatar ponti55
ponti55 says:

I would remove the white edges around the orange butterfly and adjust the shadow underneath the bird (maybe try a different blend mode?) I'm not too sure about the transparency of the model, but i think it;s a really nice idea, and your smudged background in the sbs looks great

author says:

Thanks for suggestions, made some little adjustments to the original image.

avatar erathion
erathion says:

this is very nice idea, colors are matched very well...i am not sure is that what u want but there is a lot masking problems...on girl stomach, right arm and on background...if u want that effect then i understand but IMHO would be better if u clean this author...Sorry for nit picks...

author says:

erathion: I did not want to take away some of the source image from the image of the girl. That masking was intentional. I wanted this image to look as it is. If I clean the masking over the girl's body, it would look as if she was floating in the air. I just wanted some blending of the source image over the girl.... thanks for suggestions any way.

Sweet and simple, but most of all - convincing

I would've thought that some of the branches on the back tree would be in front of the fountain, but other than that i like the image Good luck.

great blend

Your comments are appreciated. Thank you.

avatar pingenvy

I like this over-all. I think the swans would fit the lighting better if the grays in them were a little warmer & maybe a touch brighter-especially the one in the rear. Camera raw would be a great thing for that.

I agree about the greys. Good work on the swan reflections!

author says:

Thanks Pingenvy...marina08...I made the grays a little warmer...Thanks for suggestion.

It looks so natural; if I saw this image somewhere else, I would have never guessed that the swans were added in, great job

Very cool work author...Blend is great, also the mood is amazing...love the peaceful feel on your image...Also u handled very good reflections and that is always hard thing to achieve...best of luck

avatar Floortje1973

Wow those reflections are great! Maybe add a bit of ripple in the water next to the swans to make the blend even more natural. Very nice mood it makes me all ZENNNNN..

Cool Entry......Good Luck Author.
