Holy crap Author! Way to step out of the box. Awesome image and I didnt guess it was you first.

no avatar

yes the image you have done is really good
but the idea is not yours
its a tutorial... i don't know but i have seen it somewhere

otherwise good efforts you have put in there author

author says:

Thank you all very much for the support! I didn't think that many people would actually like it.. Ankitsuhaill, i created this image myself, i used no reference tutorials or images, I give you my word.

Edit: The closest i came to using a reference was Lelaina's "The Magic of the Written Word"
http://www.pxleyes.com/photoshop-picture/4a8b0e00ec014/The-magic-of-the-written-word.html ... this was the image that inspired the idea.

avatar Ressiv
Ressiv says:

Very nice idea! Whether it's from a tutorial or not. Just a few things; The grass in front is kinda ugly blurred. Can you keep that as sharp as the grass in the back? Also the blending with the book in the front is a little unsharp. Sharpening the edges around the grass would make it a lot better. Where is the water source, in the middle? In that case why is it white? if it's supposed to be water make it blue and ripple the grass thats in the water Good luck!

no avatar

hey please author don't take my comments in a wrong way....
i am very impressed by your work...seriously i am...

i just said about the idea that was from a tutorial but it is not certainly a copy of that and you have done much better than that tutorial

just fix some small errors like lighting
and you are on the top of this contest....

my wishes

avatar Chalty669
Chalty669 says:

This is really good. This could be great with a bit more work. The grass should extend the page on the left the same as it does on the top. The grass should also have a sharp edge on the bottom of the book. The water needs a lot of work, it also needs sharper edges where it meets the book and also between the underwater and above water part. At first I really didn't know what the water was, perhaps having the water pour off the page or just adding a duck would help. The shadows need more attention as well. Overall this is a nice entry which will score high, but with some minor adjustments this has the potential to be one of the greats. Good luck!

avatar shaadow
shaadow says:

great finish

author says:

I'm speechless... thanks to ALL of you for your comments and your advice.. Chalty and Ressiv in particular, i've sharpened the grass, removed the soft edges at the bottom, added a waterfall falling from the centre. I hope it looks better this way.

Again, thank you all so much! I never expected this entry to do well...

avatar Ressiv
Ressiv says:

Very good! Just one last thing, the water kinda spoils the image for me. Try to create horizontal waves in the waters structure, the structure is really weird now. You could do it with the smudge tool, stroking horizontally. And in the front where the water is going over in a waterfall smudge a little vertically so that the water really looks like its transforming into the waterfall. Nice concept anyway! Good luck!

But:
- part of the veil must appear behind the arm;
- magic wand is a bit dark (or sharp) comparing to the rest IMO.

Who really built the pyramids - created by westfall

Who really built the pyramids
Favs: 0SBS: 10Hi-resRank: 7/43Score: 55.3% (6)9848 views

Alot of myth surrounding the construction of the Pyramids. figured i'd use this classic take on it..

thanks to:
zoomar for the space needle,
girolame, for the great pyramid,
Ed Yourdon for the other pyramid,
mikecogh for the stone block,
Remko Tanis for the construction crew,
CARLOS62 for the plans,
Michael Gwyther-Jones for the desert, rosswebsdale and marj k fir the jellyfish,
and Old Shoe Woman for the luxor (5 years and 3395 days ago)

He he, not bad. The pyramid could use a sharper edge where they are adding additional parts to it and IMO, it might look more of a reference to alien construction if you converted the human construction workers into alien looking construction workers, like a couple of grays. But keep the hard hats and plans. It's a nice touch. GL!

lol.. thanks Jawsh.. figured it'd be different..

author says:

seems nobody has any alien heads i can use... not giving up though.. i like that suggestion.. the quest continues.. just hope i can have it done by friday

avatar jawshoewhah
jawshoewhah [banned] says:

Just find something that looks like an alien head. A gourd might work.

avatar erathion
erathion says:

Author idea is great, but demands a bit more work...First of all selection and masking of last pyramid block is not good, have to be way sharper then looks now, second thing are people that sit on benches near,it would be better to remove them.Another thing is blending problem, try to make edges of the constructor's a bit softer, and yes u could add some blue/gray layer, blend mode set to color with low opacity. This will help u with blending...Any how, idea is great and i wish u best of luck...

avatar wazowski
wazowski says:

I agree with all that's written above. If you cant find a good alien picture, you make the aliens yourself, of course! There's already a great base with these weird helmets. Just copy-paste them a couple of times and create something spacey with them. Remove the men's ears, put antennas on top of the heads, etc. I'm pretty sure you can do that. And dont forget to make the top of the pyramid look less erased. Good luck!

author says:

you all are correct... i was sleepy and not thinking last night... lol.. was stuck in chop mode.. my brain didn't switch over to paint...... thank you all for gettin my hea out of the box.

avatar jawshoewhah

avatar migue1ito

a hard hat on the alien would be a nice touch

avatar CMYK46
CMYK46 says:

There were no hard hats in 4,000 BC or whenever the pyramids were made. Good idea, but not well thought out.

author says:

the theory that i was trying to portray was that ancient astronauts from the future visited civilizations from the past and lent them a helping hand... i agre CMYK that it looks out of place.. and it prolly wasn't the best rendition on my part.. but hey.. its all in good fun... right?

avatar adeincyprus

no hard hats!!....how you know, were you there.....................who knows what these aliens had on board their ship..........

avatar iquraishi
iquraishi says:

you can use 'wazowski's avatar and blend it as the alien engineer.. if wazowski gives u d permission..

avatar dustfinger

Nice work. Looking at the number of sources you have spend quite some time on this already. Still some suggestions though: The contrast is not consistent through the image. I would suggest enhancing the contrast in the background and make the blueprint less bright, making the clouds the brightest part of the image.

the froglloon - created by anatole

the froglloon
Favs: 3SBS: 2Hi-resRank: 5/43Score: 57.5% (15)13395 views

Im proud to present the first photos of this zoological sensation!

This new species was discoverd recently, while author explored his or her jungle of thougts. The so-called "froglloon" decided to speed up evolution, so it became a new kind of frog in only one day. This new species is able fly to south each winter with migratory balloons. There is a special lightweight gas in its air-bag on chin, so its easy for the "froglloon" to take off. Theres no idea which way and where it will land so far, scientists suppose it locates a top3 entry for come back on earth, but theres still no forecast possible. (5 years and 3395 days ago)

avatar erikuri
erikuri says:

Nice entry!
But IMO there are too many balloons, they are a bit distracting; maybe one balloon is better!

author says:

I composed it new. Guess its better now

avatar RayTedwell

I relly like this one, its original and well executed. I actually like the baloons as part of the composition.

avatar dustfinger

Nicely executed. It seems this is going to be a major road in the evolution of species. Your description made me think about the other recent discovery on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrxmpihCjqw
