Nice work cloning out the background author, however the turtles need a little bit more work with their edges. Then maybe play with the brightness of them, the background is very cloudy so I would suggest darkening and playing with their colours so they dont all look the same, you could change them to a greeny brown colour then also play with the saturation to give them a slight difference as well

Good image, author. Nice source finds. IMO the hull on the source ship at right is wonky...no fault of yours, but if you had moved it to the right and had the border cut off the jagged part of the hull as if it was emerging from our right, the broken hull wouldn't be a distraction. (As it certainly is for me right now).

I felt like this scene is about the steampunks airship wars.

I'm sorry if I'm too late to comment and give you my thoughts, author. When I'm looking to all the way down to the city, it's just a modern city. Steampunks should be on the city where the steams, steamclouds, pipes, post-apocalyptic scene, junkyards and all the old-style elements scattered around. I have one good resource for the scene; type 'machinarium' on any search engines. It will leads you to an animated webpage which tells the stories of tiny little robot with the environment of steampunks (junkyards).

Anyway, it's a great entry to come across. Steampunks entries (in my mind) will be crowded with people, costumes, bots, etc. But you MADE ANOTHER style, playing with scene and that's the way I like it.

I don't get how this isn't retro? would it help if I added scratches or fading to it? just saying "not that retro" doesn't help. it just says that it is retro, but only a little retro. I think it has an art deco feel to it which in my opinion is retro. Had I wanted to make this modern I would not have used just flat graphics with a slight gradient to give the piece some interest. I would have used a full figure of batman and a detailed image of a city. please give constructive criticism if you are going to critique someones art, so it helps them out. thanks.

Author, I agree with you. I really like your entry, but yes I think a little texture would have helped this make look more retro.
