As the guy who took the original photograph, I gotta say I'm not crazy about the makeover (though I'm happy to see you worked on it). The softness of her face and the change to her eyes takes away some her personality.

I think the shadow cast by the woman needs to be much darker. I like the contrast in this image! Good luck author!
Took your advice and darkened the shadows.
Shadow would also be longer, but the mood is good.
Great mood! Sometimes less is more and you've really grasped that. I love the atmosphere you've created.
