The technique is good, the blurry transparent edges are not. If you use Selective Color you can match the grays in the B/W area to the rest of the coat.

Might be good to remove the white lines around the petal selections.

Try selecting the area outside the figure, expanding the selection by a pixel or two, and clearing. That should get rid of the white line around the figure. Feathering the selection by one pixel should help too. Otherwise it's a good image.

Not sure the filter works, and it might have been better to remove the skin blemishes before increasing the image intensity...they're much more obvious in the final image.
