Black on black, foreground & background obscures a lot of the head. A better background would be one that really pops the foreground figure.

Interesting idea...the edges could use a slight blur, and in hi res there are white lines at top of her head. Make a few tweaks and this will be great.

Yep, the thin lines radiating from the horizon don't work for me. I like the overall image in low res...in hi res it's too filter heavy for me.

I second James, not to mention there's no source for the leaves.

Your final version is too red. You've lost the yellows in the flesh tones and now they have no contrast with the background sky. The shadow of the metal piece next to his nose could use a tweak. Since the light is from above, there wouldn't be a shadow on the top edge, and I don't get the white edge at the end...but otherwise it's a great interpretation of the contest goal. GL author.

Foreground type and shadows really don't work. Too many fonts over all. A good poster needs visual continuity. If this was my poster I'd simplify it by removing "Everybody know him" and the foreground type & shadow. Simplicity is always best, let the graphic image stand out. GL author.
