I understand the eaten portion of the (let's call it a flag) but the part that seems to be falling off is larger than the part the caterpillar seems to have eaten. I don't get that, but it's an interesting idea.

Hmmm...sure wouldn't be clean & bloodless like this...no teeth showing either...but allowing for artistic license, IMO the skin should be color matched to the face. Good execution!

It's always better to do your own lighting effect than just pop in a lens flare, which we have all seen a million times.

Interesting, but the icicles are made to different scales, and the ones beneath the eyes would curve to the proportions of the face.
