I think you were striving for fire and water, and all I see is water, Maybe retain some of the fire's original shape and color to see the two elements as one, IMHO the entire image just looks like a water spray with some yellow shadowing...

Retaining some of the fire's resolution and color might make it more Yin and Yang

a small soft burn brush could be run over the edging to create more depth, and placing the back wing BEHIND the copter Layer might give it a bit more believability (the squared off masking is s dead give away) and some shadows on the ground would be nice (just be careful not to over do it)

But as always, IMHO, good luck!!!

IMHO, the body of the insect looks awesome in Step 6, when you add Bevel Emboss be careful that the item doesn't flatten and lose it's depth.. (you could easily overly the body in step 6) just looks more real in my eyes.

Do you think just a tiny bit of burn along the lower edge of the shell on the beetle might help with the depth ?(or maybe just some contrast to pull out the shadows NOT A LOT, it's just in the thumbnail the white area of the shell looked very flat. (Your high res is wonderful, but I'm just thinking of the overall feel, and the white area is a bit stark IMHO)
