Having fun with the gum!

Maybe a little too much HDR - it has created a halo around the object that are adjacent to the blue in the sky

The HDR has introduced a grayish blob in the sky - most likely where the blown highlights (ie lack of detail) were

Nice in B&W, few blown highlights in the clouds on the right but I like it just the same

I might have cropped it just above the 'green thing' in the bottom right corner - otherwise .. love it.

Oh - really sorry to hear that We lost a foal last year to neighbours dogs so I know how gut wrenching it is

Sweet - you keep the grass and I'll keep the foal .. deal?

When the sky is so flat without any points of interest like clouds etc then the 'empty space' doesn't do much to enhance the overall image, so I'd agree with Mossy and crop just above the tree with a little 'breathing' space just above it.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'using the foreground as the horizon' but the horizon is definately not level

Perhaps your monitor needs calibrating Mossy - I notice that this is often a comment you write on dark entries and other seem to be able to see the subject easily as I can with this one.

I wouldn't change the entry either. To me, the eye is naturally drawn to the house as it sits in a brighter patch of grass compaired to rest of the image. Our eye is naturally drawn to the bright parts of an image. To me, this looks like a great place - I could imagine exploring the hills and surounds as a kid ... sigh

There is a way to shoot through mesh fences so that the fence does not appear - I have used the method a number of times in crocodile enclosures and emus etc using shallow DOF and longer zoom - if it's OK to post links then you can check here:

http://www.shutterphoto.net/article/take-advantage-of-depth-of-field-to-make-things-disappear

Just thought it might be useful. The picture isn't the best for this example and you can use auto focus if you prefer to manual focus like the writer stated

I don't agree - I like the POV. I think the angle of the table makes a nice leading line to the musician in the BG. If we turned it around to the 'normal' view - it's just an empty place setting.

Crude sign or not - I think it's clever that the sign is made out of pine...with a little pine needle tucked into the shadows of the sign. Hardly need to see the whole tree to see that it's a cypress - it kind stick out like the proverbial

I think if you cropped out the tracks right up to the path edge so that it was nearly a panorama, it would work. I, on the other hand, like the symmetry of the doors.

Love how the 'chook-pen' is seperated from the main bedroom. It is probably much cooler on the roof - would love to know a bit more about where this is.
