I think your shutter speed is probably too slow. Try pre-focusing on the spot that you expect the drops to land and maybe once your focused, move it over to manual focus. I think this is s really great attempt and I really like the smokey looking effect

Well done - would love to have the ability to program my shutter to fire like that. It has a 2 second delay or continous, but no way to make them continuous at set intervals. I am yet to catch such an awesome lightning strike

I know that this is an 'anything goes' theme and she's a cute kid and all and it's probably a keeper for the 21st Album, but I'm not sure that her grubby face will appeal to a wider audience. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, just that I have seen more creative ideas from you

I understand there's probably some limitations on photographing an event like this but I think this could have been improved by shhoting from a lower angle and more side on rather than his 'behind'

I think if it's cropped it will lose the story. As it is we can tell that he is a poultry judge at a breed show, if it's cropped it would be some bloke in a white coat.

I feel this would be better with the top part cropped right to where the paper meets the desk/table

Can't say I blame you author. I am not a big fan of cropping down images either- usually I just don't enter the themes that require macro type stuff as I don't own a macro lens and in my opinion cropping an image just can't compare.

Yep - I have taken a 64 minute exposure on my entry level Canon with no problems. Sounds like one of those urban myths to me. The idea of stacking is better image quality (less noise)

I think the HDR has been over done of this one. There are halos around the edges where the sky and building meet. To me it should be difficult to spot the processing.
