Fantastic) and It's good to have that as a reference.. but this is extremely different work and image.. high Marks from me as well, this is a tree inside a 25/45 watt laying on it's side with a definate light source while the image in question is a hand held vertical with NO shadow cast and a seedling tree, not a grown one) they are two totally different images in the same vein.. Comedy and tragedy usually only have two masks.. if that was your goal.. I can see you did a lot of work with the smudging design, you might want add some depth with shadow to amp the piece up a bit..but only if you think it needs more.. you captured the smiling eyes quite well..GOOD LUCK

The sphere needs to be round for a true effect.. (I've sold tons of those things out of my old gallery) Roundness will give it more realism (glass blowers seldom if ever make an ovoid crystal ball) but if you want to keep it ovoid I have no problem with that either.. If you want an easy way to make an Eye ball.. just get a white sheet of paper and put a marble on it and take a picture of it with the macro setting on your camera.. or just scan it at 300dpi... .another way is to chop out a round circle and BEVEL AND EMBOSS and experiment with the size and depth levels and see if you can get it to form a roundness you are happiest with.. the easiest way is to just take your digital camera and place it right in front of your eye on a macro setting and take a picture.. works the best for me.. there is also several tutorials on the web for building them form scratch.. and Stock Photos galore.. (I prefer to make them myself if you can't tell).. great concept and very fun piece.. good Luck

I'm sure there was a lot of work on this.. its just a shame doesn't show in the result (your description pretty much covers the Labor) but i saw a piece on here just awhile back where some one took a picture and manipulated the source picture BACK into the same exact picture.. it was really really weird, but I learned a lot from it, it's good to do new things.. gives you perspective on other things available to you..
