I agree with robvdn the doors seem odd from a perspective pov - or maybe it's that with such an ornate door there's no depth or distortion to things like the handle or panels....
(5 years and 2172 days ago)A little more attention to the highlights and shadows from the the original golf ball, transferred to the transparent object would have given the object more realism...... the main highlight on the golf ball you created would be suited to a smooth object.
(5 years and 2180 days ago)Also the reflection on the club head shows a regular golf ball.
A good attempt regardless of these issues - Good luck
would have been a nice touch to have the hints of colour in the BG image on the watch to make it fit in the scene more
(5 years and 2182 days ago)The bird is distracting! also the shadows are too prominent in the scene imo but a good idea
(5 years and 2206 days ago)WEAR even!
(5 years and 2218 days ago)Not sure you should be saying you have multiple entries in this contest, even though the final image quality is the same, that's different to actually broadcasting it in the comments.... I've got to agree though, this image isn't very Halloween like; performers where those masks all the time and as a result, it's not very creepy - maybe if his hands were also white? - or the guitar case was a coffin it might present the idea better!? - that's not to say that the image isn't good, just could fit the theme more I guess.
(5 years and 2218 days ago)This is really good, but some of the edges could use a little softening in the areas where you've cut the source out from and the BG come with it... the saddle also wouldn't cast an exact shadow, but instead move with the contours of the mantis... probably would be as 'long' either.
(5 years and 2230 days ago)Other than the hair looking odd in some places mainly on the edges I can't find anything to fault - Great work Author.
(5 years and 2312 days ago)Good job author, good luck
(5 years and 2312 days ago)Congrats!!
(5 years and 2313 days ago)Congrats!!
(5 years and 2313 days ago)Congrats!!
(5 years and 2313 days ago)The edges are too crisp for such a hairy animal, (some areas you've attempted to break up the edges but the rest you've left out entirely) and the features of the face and the form of the hands and feet could do with more overall definintion... I'll hold off voting, but it's a decent attempt so far...
(5 years and 2313 days ago)I think the horns would look better starting further onto the head that right at the back, and the teeth seem a little too white (could use some definition to individualise each tooth and gums?)
(5 years and 2314 days ago)Congrats for 2nd and 3rd!
(5 years and 2314 days ago)Congrats
(5 years and 2314 days ago)I can't see the images in your sbs... just a progression of your work.
(5 years and 2314 days ago)you should place each original image uncut as a seperate step, this way it's much clearer.
The nose should be darker.... like a dogs, and the era should come out more... and the 'v' shape marking on the face runs straight across the nose... that needs to be darker....
(5 years and 2314 days ago)It's a great attempt at a Navii though
I've got to agree with CMYK46 about the jem and the elbow... If you take the time to stop taking comments so personally and focus on what needs improving then you might actually find that his comments are valid! CMYK46 was just as quick to point things out in the past as he is now! I've had his critique and so have others, and to be honest we are better for it!
(5 years and 2314 days ago)Whatever running argument you have needs to stop IMHO!
It's getting there...
(5 years and 2314 days ago)re the eye.... it's kind of lost the dark rim around the iris... but you did a good job moving it!?.
you may want to lighten the mid tones and shadows on the body of the dog (or use curves with a large featheresd lasso selection) The hole should be fine!...
GL author
much better!!... is looking good!! high score from me!
(5 years and 2314 days ago)you have a line going across your picture behind the hat the bottom half is blue and the top is black....
(5 years and 2315 days ago)Great entry otherwise
I think some condensation where the nose is would be a nice touch!
(5 years and 2315 days ago)EDIT: Also the reflection in the eye could use some attention
I would crispen (if that's even a word!) up the edges of the hole (front and sides) and loose the 'ground' at the front just leaving that as head!
(5 years and 2315 days ago)I would also suggest moving his 'eyes' so they are looking up at the source...
says someone with NO Photoshop entries.... comment null and void!
(5 years and 2315 days ago)It's a fun entry, would have liked to have seen more development on it....
(5 years and 2316 days ago)Looking through your sources I can't see how you used the smoke brush, It looks more like a filter effect to me.... so do you really need the link?
On a more personal level I think the entry is great though.
(5 years and 2316 days ago)Awesome job! GL author!
(5 years and 2316 days ago)Please if you're going to argue my comment at least try not to agree that I'm right. It's a fruit of a plant, not a plant in itself. Your entry represents a carnivorous fruit, ... Where is the plant?
(5 years and 2316 days ago)From the contest description: "Imagine any sort of plant that could eat people"
If you argue that a cherry is the product of a plant, then your entry should really focus on both the plant and the fruit. for example, the cherry is the fruit that leads unwilling prey into the jaws of the plant. That kind of approach would have been more in-line with the contest goal IMHO.
A little shading against the bird where the octo-arm is grabbing it would set it in place.... the lighting on the plant is also much more intense than the other stock you used; maybe transfer that contrast to those other images?!!!
(5 years and 2319 days ago)It's less a plant and more a fruit by the looks of things.
(5 years and 2319 days ago)areas for consideration... where you're lower right bird intersects the fruit: you can see through the bird; I'm assuming it's in front?
Would look much better with the background people cloned out!?....
(5 years and 2319 days ago)The light sources from the BG are casting shadows towards the viewer and in your case you've cast your shadow of 'Vader Boy' away from the viewer, the shadows are all quite 'diffused' (not sure that's the right word for what I'm trying to convey but it's close enough :P) while your shadow is pretty clear and defined, also with that bulb casting light on the floor behind him the shadow would be minimal and wouldn't reach into the light... Of course you could also argue that there is a light source off camera that you can't see, so could explain the direction of the shadow.... (either way, it still wouldn't really reach into the light pool on the floor)...
(5 years and 2319 days ago)I've also just noticed that the light hitting the ears is casting a shadow in the direction OF the light source too....
On a plus, it's an imaginative entry GL author.
Erm.... where is that pipe going?
(5 years and 2322 days ago)Good job, it could be a little more atmospheric with a bit more fog.
It would be good if you made the beams of light more realistic i.e they had more falloff and were brighter towards the source etc... The green visor looks like it's been painted with a soft round brush, and could use a little work, overall though it's a good entry so far.
