I just looked at the others in your SBS. There are some against white papers and it brings it out more. Just my opinion though. Possibly a different angle of the lighting would have helped?

The piece is interesting, but I think a white background would have done this justice.

Your drawing isn't in perspective at all, when lines are all parallel it's called an oblique drawing. This should be in the most basic type of perspective called one point perspective, the most fundamental kind and the first thing you'd learn in a basic drawing class. The depth of the cube is visually greater than the height and width making it appear oblong. Where is this located, and what victory is it supposed to commemorate? The car on the left is distracting. You could crop this in closer, eliminating the car and a lot of the empty sky above the memorial, and have a stronger image, IMO.

I had to play with the mid-tones as well but sometimes you have to go through the contrast a couple of times. Some pictures have a lot of shadowing that takes more times to get them just right. I learned that from this contest!

Try doing the contrast again and again.

increasing the constrast might help, make the blacks look really black - they're a bit yoo grey looking now

You made me laugh ade! Halloween these day is just a funny day where we wear scary, funny or cute costume (great exemple here ). It has nothing to do with spirit! It's all about candies and getting sick! And I love it!

cute, but what does a fairy have to do with halloween. it's meant to be witches and warlocks, ghosts and ghoulies. The idea of halloween is to disguise yourself as a bad spirit, in order to avoid harm from the bad spirits as they roamed during the time of samhain. A cute fairy such as this wold be a prime target for the bad spirits.
