I hate to be the one to tell you this but this is a good example of what not to enter. The quality and focus are really bad and the angle doesn't help.

try better lighting

I would have to agree and shooting from a direct bird's eye view is not the best approach. The plate and the carpet are very distracting. I would try re-shooing and keeping the focus on just the food.
