Your work in 2d shows some promise. I would suggest that you search out some tutorials on masking and blending modes. Masking is one of the most important features of Photo shop to get the hang of. Also the much hated pen tool -- not my fav tool but is really useful. These will really help your blending and chopping. Then you only need to master the other 99% of Photo shop (LOL) Keep working and most important is to play with the features of photo shop Check out Bert Monroy on the web to see just what you can get with a few techniques. He has been using Photo shop since day1 and is an amazing artist.
