I did this by heating some oil n melting some crayons in it, then sqeezing it between 2 peices of white paper, then holding it up to the light.

This is a half kilo heavy ball from a from a ball bearing. It's lighted with a Snooted SB-900 and a Snooted SB-600 from behind. Shooted throught a mirror to minimize the reflection from the camera and with a 105mm macro lens.
