Eye is just pasted on. It should have a socket like the ones you almost removed.

But I would like to suggest you:

- try to completely disappear the holes for the original eyes. In order to make the sense that the skull is flat there.
- it would be better if you move the new eye a bit lower

author, you should match up the tree shadows ( the light angle police will get ya) and a horizontal flip to the Sky might make the light source match better... (not that it matters in a surreal).. if you brush the edges of the book with a soft blur brush it will help it blend better (IMHO of course)

and yes.. this has been done before, but it's always good to practice.. (you may want to warp the grass line to align with the bend of the book page.. currently it causes a flattening effect) very good work.. you should be very proud

Wonderful image to start with, then by reducing the colour around the eye and the work done on the iris itself the image really pops. I would try to get rid of the line at the bottom of the iris though, it is a bit distracting and takes away from the overall enhancement (I know it is in the original but that is what enhancing is all about )

Looks like a real photo to me.
There's a horizontal line at the bottom of the eye (focus blur that ended up colorized) that you might want to clone out, but otherwise, I think this came out well!

The wings are misplaced, they look attached to his butt, and off to one side, rather than centered off the spine. It looks like there's a bird behind him, instead of him having wings.

really neat idea (links aren't working for me... please check).. if you could brighten/dodge the gray elephants a bit (I like to see their detail more, they are a bit dark.. and watch the white grass at their feet (a soft light blended green brush would do the trick in a second.. I think it would help a lot.. but that's just me
