This was a poor quality photo to begin with. The model's face was already overexposed, with the hair and face looking as one overly bright shape. Changing it to B&W did not help the situation, and the filters merely compounded the poor contrast. She does not look "undead," she looks shapeless in the face.
(5 years and 2743 days ago)It was a wise decision to crop away the excess foliage, except that you did not do so in any meaningful way to emphasize your subject...Since the model is now a washed out and over-exposed shape, the only thing with any real visual definition is the large bush in the center of the photo...But there is nothing there except a bunch of leaves - albeit there is some wonderful tonal variation there.
The image as a composition, does not visually "flow." The model, with her high contrast, pulls the eye to the left, and down, where the bottom of the round bush swings it back around, up and over to the upper left leaves, where nothing is happening, so the eye continues back to the washed out model, and drops again...
This was a good attempt to rescue a less-than-optimal photo, but needed a bit more conceptual focus, IMO.
Stunning result. Very professional looking. I would expect to see something like this in a travel magazine.
(5 years and 2743 days ago)Wow! Great find, great photo!
(5 years and 2745 days ago)Very creative, but the brown water at her feet looks odd, like she is standing in toxic sludge.
(5 years and 2752 days ago)The girl is too desaturated for the background, and the drop shadow behind her really makes her look artificially inserted into the image. It does not blend well as a cohesive composition.
(5 years and 2752 days ago)Too much of and HDR effect. The man has a glowing aura around him, most noticeable along the bottom and the right hand side. The same with the top of the buildings and around the street light. Unlike Marmite, it's not so much "you love it or you hate it," as it is "too much of a good thing is not good." Heavy handed contrast takes away from an otherwise excellent composition and gives this a too fake look.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)The composition is too heavy on the right, cropping it closer to the post on the left would have helped the balance.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)I would have leveled this out a bit, the tilt to the left is distracting. Excellent depth of field, though!
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Wonderful composition, great visual balance!
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Excellent composition, color, contrast, and clarity. Well done.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)I think the contrast well done. The clouds in the sky are beautifully defined, and the bright white in the shirt and the black of the pants provide both ends of the contrast spectrum. Increasing the contrast to make the photo more "high key" would have lost many subtle details that you now have in the sand.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)I would have cropped most of the roof off, it adds nothing to your main focal point. Beautiful color depth of the market, though.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Beautiful visual balance. Very nice composition.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Excellent tonal range for a B&W picture. Well done.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)The action is fantastic, but the contrast levels are too high-key, losing some of the facial expression depth.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)A bit too much of the out of focus pansies. Detracts from your focal point. I would have cropped about half of that portion off.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)I love the color, but for me the HDR is too intense and gives this a "fake" look, especially the skin tones.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Nice photo, but the tilt down to the right looks odd.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Sadly, your sky is entirely white. Part of the allure of an Ansel Adams landscape was often the dramatic accent of cloud formations, but even with cloudless skies, there was some tonal shading, not a complete lack of it. Still a nice photo, though.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Far superior contrast and color. You've surpassed the original with your "flattery." Excellent photo!
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Beautiful photo, but Potton seems to enhance the blues and soften the yellow tones in his photos.
(5 years and 2757 days ago)Personally, I think yours is visually superior.
It looks like she is sunk in the sand up to her knees...
(5 years and 2758 days ago)I would have cropped the bottom just a bit more to remove the hand.
(5 years and 2764 days ago)A bit too dark on the right, you can barely make out the screen above the microphone. A bit more contrast would have helped this.
(5 years and 2764 days ago)Stunning capture, beautifully composed.
(5 years and 2764 days ago)Great lighting and contrast, nice job!
(5 years and 2764 days ago)It looks like a seagull, kind of hard to see if it's a bird of prey...
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderfully creative, excellent use of B&W! Very fitting, terrific photo.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)A bit too blurry.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)This almost screams "money!" Great shot!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Very artistic composition. This would make a fantastic framed print!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)A lot of people don't like thistles, but I think they are quite beautiful in their own prickly way. You've done a wonderful job of capturing their beauty.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderful visual balance. Good photo.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Very nice angle capture.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderful visual texture, great composition. Well done!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Fantastic macro! I too thought it a bee, but couldn't see wings, and was wondering, "Where's the beetle?" Great photo!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderful contrast, but the excessive noise and the oversaturated colors make this look very unnatural.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)This could have used a bit of color adjustment, it looks more blue and pink than purple. Lovely focus, though.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)I wish the depth of field wasn't so shallow. More of the shell looks out of focus than in.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderful photo, HUGE bee!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Beautiful composition, love the subtle color scheme.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Too bad the horizon is crooked and tilts down to the left. This is a stunning shot.
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Fabulous composition. The focal point is so small, yet so dramatically positioned. Love this photo!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)Wonderful depth and clarity, this is gorgeous!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)This looks like something from a home decorating magazine. Exquisite lighting, very nice work!
(5 years and 2771 days ago)The sky looks too color saturated.
(5 years and 2776 days ago)Very nice visual, I could easily picture this in a fashion magazine. Really good balance and use of space.
(5 years and 2776 days ago)Lovely overall composition, but visually it's too busy with the polka dot flower and the dotted background. It detracts from the "product," leading the eye all around the image, with no real directed focus on the jewelry.
(5 years and 2776 days ago)Too much going on in the background, and the lighting is dark enough that it doesn't appear to be relevant to the "product." Personally, I'd crop the left side off, and try to focus more on the bottles.
(5 years and 2776 days ago)It would have been better if the model had some fake press on nails, her chewed ones detract from what is an otherwise well set up photograph.
