Nice ! this is the first thing that came into my head when i saw the contest :P looks promising
try blurring the yellow energy thingy (i dont remember what its called i watched the show 4 years ago XD) and lowering its opacity of it.. and maybe try making the ground alittle more DBZ'ish

great idea ! the hand is looking good but try using the stamp tool or something like that to blend the 2 objects, but still good start
