sorry but the contest goal clearly states that no animals are allowed
(5 years and 2988 days ago)@ nator, yes it is indeed. If the author took a picture from the other side of the building you'd see a giant pair of sunglasses and oversized false teeth
(5 years and 3007 days ago)lmao kyricom. Nice find author
(5 years and 3008 days ago)The subject and composition are nice, but I think the harsh lighting detracts from the image.
(5 years and 3008 days ago)You could probably lose a little if you desired, but I'm sure you have looked at the image with varying degrees of empty space. I'm with Rob on this one, looks great as is.
(5 years and 3008 days ago)very haunting image - perfect lighting. Well done!
(5 years and 3008 days ago)very nice image, and all the better for not having the text there too
(5 years and 3010 days ago)in your opinion Mossy. I disagree and prefer the shallower focus personally. I think if you were capturing three live people you would normally want one key subject to draw the eye to, and I think this achieves that.
(5 years and 3010 days ago)'...a perfect sphere is on-theme', please at least read the description thoroughly before making the comment TankRed.
(5 years and 3055 days ago)This is a very nice shot too author. Best of luck.
Nice concept (not new but nice). I imagine it was difficult to find the right sources in a high enough resolution, but the result is a bit too hazy. Credit to you for the effort though!
(5 years and 3058 days ago)haha, I love it. Very funny.
(5 years and 3058 days ago)A very nice shot, and gutsy for sure!
(5 years and 3067 days ago)A lot of work in this one, and a seamless end result. The smooth transition really makes this stand out.
(5 years and 3067 days ago)I don't want my comment to be misunderstood. I don't have an issue with the pic myself. I just thought it was borderline. Best of luck author.
(5 years and 3074 days ago)I know there's a place for 'edgy' art, I'm just not sure a pic of a dead cat is what I'd like to see on a family friendly art site.
(5 years and 3076 days ago)Very nice shot here, love the bokeh'd lights
(5 years and 3076 days ago)Love the dedication to getting a shot! Nice result too.
(5 years and 3076 days ago)This is really good, love the setup.
(5 years and 3076 days ago)aargh, where's the thumbs down button when you need it?! You're way out of line locks!
(5 years and 3077 days ago)Love the colours, makes me just want to get out the butter!
(5 years and 3078 days ago)A really nice result eith this one. Well done
(5 years and 3078 days ago)Nice job! Not brave enough to have real paint on your brush though?? :-P
(5 years and 3081 days ago)This is purely my personal opinion but I think the vibrant colour on the tat pulls the eye up away from the smile a bit. It is a very nice capture though, and you can tell she was a pretty fun and easy model to work with!
(5 years and 3083 days ago)I think a closeup of the metal pattern would have made for a more abstract shot. This is a little easy to make out what it is (especially with you telling us)! :P
(5 years and 3083 days ago)it looks like the clearest point of focus is on the back lip of the cup which makes it a little hard to focus. I like the row of cups too but think a less shallow DOF would work here so we can make out the fading trail of cups leading into the distance
(5 years and 3083 days ago)yup, thats what it looks like to me too.
(5 years and 3083 days ago)Beautiful. Such clear reflections.
(5 years and 3091 days ago)Yep, like the edits... looking awesome!
(5 years and 3098 days ago)Welcome, and a nice first entry. My main suggestion would be to re-do your shadows though. Your main source of light is coming from the fire, so the shadows should be long and facing out toward the left and right.
(5 years and 3099 days ago)Absolutely well done, I do agree with arca on this one though, I'd dull the moon just a little.
(5 years and 3099 days ago)It is pretty clear that you have used the same model in a couple of your entries (which unfortunately compromises you anonymity).
(5 years and 3101 days ago)I like this pic of the two (and agree with kyricom's comment too)
Wow, my eye must be getting better if Steve is agreeing with me on my comments
(5 years and 3104 days ago)As always, we'd love a high-res, but this is a really nice shot, you can see him longing to be outside (or is that being thankful he's out of the rain :P )
(5 years and 3104 days ago)This is really well done!
(5 years and 3104 days ago)Beautiful colours!
(5 years and 3104 days ago)Nice shot, it captures the mood really well. B&W was a very good choice too.
(5 years and 3104 days ago)Photo's like this make me so jealous, I'd love to visit Canada! A beautiful shot and well framed
(5 years and 3104 days ago)Proof that sometimes the simpler photos can be really striking. Nice composition and DOF author.
(5 years and 3104 days ago)If this photograph was crisp and well focused, it would have been really nice!
(5 years and 3104 days ago)I like the shot, but think this is a case of soooo close to a really nice shot. I think you have focused just short of the eye (which IMO should be the focal point of the pic). Still a nice job though.
(5 years and 3104 days ago)L is for laconically leanining on a log at a lake
(5 years and 3104 days ago)Very nice shot, though slightly rotating the shot to straighten the horizon might be nice.
I like this one, nicely done
(5 years and 3113 days ago)I'm with Steve on this one, though I do think the dark shadows pull the eye down to the bright red too much and takes the focus from the face.
(5 years and 3113 days ago)Thanks for the great explanation author, always need these insights from good photographers so one day I can hope to produce images like these.
(5 years and 3122 days ago)I love this one, it fits perfectly on theme to me. It puts us in the shoes of her husband or family member just staring at her chair, waiting for her to just walk back in and sit down.
(5 years and 3123 days ago)My condolences to you and your family, but a lovely shot and long lasting reminder of her.
Nice pic, but given the freaky looking face, i think a tight crop on that would give you a really intreresting pic
(5 years and 3125 days ago)I like the almost glowing effect on the skin. Was this purely because of the lighting or done through a contract adjustment, cos it doesnt look like it has affected the rest of the image.
(5 years and 3125 days ago)Wonderful job by the way, I'd just love to know how you achieved the look
Brilliant job, love it!
(5 years and 3129 days ago)I'm with you rbsgrl. It took me a little while to decide if the DOF was too shallow, but the clear distinction of colours between the path and plants makes this work well. Nice job author.
(5 years and 3134 days ago)Absolutely lovely, reminds me of some of the old Marksquirrel shots.
