maybe even try lowing the opacity of the overlayed colours and/or soften the edges, that might help it blend more convincingly.

I think the method of blending is what's wrong with the lemon. The colour looks a bit pasted on. Other than that a really nice job.

As soon as I saw this contest I was hoping you would submit this. Nice one.

I guess its easier to look at pictures as potential stock when you have experience chopping them up . I think the keys are a strong subject of focus (which is all in focus), generally avoid anything that is too 'busy' or moving, OOF. I like this one because of the stong lines and various shapes. You could twist this pic in to a number of other objects.

My personal view on this would be to crop out some of the peripheral objects, such as the care & tree to give a stronger focus on the subject. But this is a better example of stock photography in my view. For inspiration as to what stock photography looks like check out one of rht many pages like shutterstock, sxc.hu. There are a heap of links in the 'resources' tab at the top of the page.

I think this is a great shot. Love the DOF too. From a photography standpoint this is really good, just personally I'm not sure that this is a great example of stock photography.

so many comments about seeing this stuff before, but it is not that easy to make the positive space into negative space, the lighting and tone has to be spot on to look convincing, and this one does. Nice job.

I agree completely with Steve, but in this shot I dont mind the little bit of glare. It's not overwhelming and you can still read the heading on the ticket which is the important part. Nice job.

I love it, as I am scrolling through the pages of latest entries, I see this and my first thought is - what an amazing photo... of course I see it is a chop after looking for a few seconds, but a great first impression means you have achieved a wonderful piece here.

I don't know that I agree with you Josh, if you look at the text at the back of the ticket, it is clearly OOF. It is subtle given the size of the subject, but I think it's a good submission.

They are nice, I like the white on white in this shot too.

unfortunately your focus is more on the smaller flowers at the back of the shot. Also try bumping up the colour/contrast a bit, it will make those pretty yellow flowers stand out.

this is really nice, such a shallow DOF. You can really see the texture on the leaves, I would have LOVED to see a high res... hint hint.

I see you have changed the pic, but unfortunately you still have the same issue with this one The leaves at the base of the plant are in much clearer focus than the flower itself.

Yep, the pink against the almost flat green b/g works well. Nice.

Well that certainly is a closeup. Fantastic detail on the centre of the flower.

I feel bad critiquing a shot that you love so much, but I can't help but feel this would be better if there was a stronger focus on the flowers in the foreground. This shot does have a nice vintage feel to it though.

This not a bad photo, but try to play around with it a little to make it pop more (try curves or levels adjustments in PS). Also, crop off the bottom of the pic to get rid of that black corner, I dont think it adds anything to the shot, and is distracting.

Nice job, the only thing I would suggest would be to desaturate the house a little more. The yellow is still quite vivid, and it wouldnt be this bright in low light.
