There a rule in CG: never show the horizon, always cover it with stuff. Or you could choose an angle that shows more of the boat=selling piece & your strenght vs bavkground= fill in context which is secondary.
(5 years and 3248 days ago)Never used Maya, but does it have any form of sky object? If so adding one with simple blue skies or maybe some clouds would be a great idea to pep up this image, the black you have at the moment is ruining the render. If you cannot do it in Maya or dont want to render again I would suggest that you use photoshop and a picture of some sky and remove the black and add the sky, then a blending layer and it would look much better.
(5 years and 3250 days ago)Other than the black, a vry nice entry, good luck
this has such a Gumby feel to it.. ( I really don't know what 3d rendering is.. but from what I've talked to others about this it's a pain in the butt)... this reminds me of the Gumby episode where he projects dust in the air to make it rain and ends up with a mud flow... hehehehe.. good luck (the 3d peeps are going to beat me LOL)
(5 years and 3250 days ago)nice one...gl
(5 years and 3276 days ago)I know man, unfair things happen- I'm glad it's alright now.
(5 years and 3276 days ago)When you see ppl breaking pxl rules just red-flag 'em.
I think your composition would look better if you crop out the right side, and instead of making 2 plains as background, just make a curved plane that formes the horizontal & vertical. GL
Congratulations for 2nd place.
(5 years and 3279 days ago)nice one
(5 years and 3280 days ago)congr....!!!!

(5 years and 3287 days ago)But why there are lines on the globe and try to reduce bump of santa character!
Best of luck my friend!
I don't know if I'd except that gift from Santa, he's a little creepy. Very nice and scary.

(5 years and 3291 days ago)Mossy, go throw that CRT monitor back in the dumpster where you found it. Then go buy one of these:

Author, lighting is fine. Please don't change anything GL!
Too dark. Some background or ambient lighting might help.
(5 years and 3292 days ago)Very cool work! Well done GL
(5 years and 3293 days ago)Author, this is quite an interesting chop, your steps 3 and 4 show the great modeling you did, but in the final image, they're all covered up, not showing. The straps are great - I hope they're leather! But the material for the top of the helmet looks too contemporary, not sure what it is. I like the glass view window on the front, and the little steam stack on the rear, it would be great to see some steam! Maybe try a wood texture for the helmet top, with some brass and leather accents - and then I'll want to order one!
(5 years and 3330 days ago)I can't quite tell what the object is, perhaps you can explain?
(5 years and 3337 days ago)By the way, as a whole the render looks great, i'd just like to understand exactly what it is
nice But where is the cable to connect to the socket? Sorry to be picky..
(5 years and 3344 days ago)your lighting is good
(5 years and 3348 days ago)nice one author
(5 years and 3348 days ago)Good effort, Keep it up!!
(5 years and 3458 days ago)Very good for only your second model, if you would like feedback then I would say the material you used is too reflective. But very good job, looks like I will have some serious competition soon.
(5 years and 3465 days ago)Oh my God! No kidding? I got the same bike that Christmas, too! Only, I was 4. High marks for nastalgia!
(5 years and 3469 days ago)nice ..........
(5 years and 3479 days ago)The flowers at the bottom of the turtle leg are chopped straight across. Cloning some of the flowers upward over the leg would easily fix that. Other than that, I like the chop.
(5 years and 3482 days ago)good job....
(5 years and 3484 days ago)looks good....

(5 years and 3535 days ago)wow. your sbs was very informative! thanks so much. and your entry is great. nice use of the source!
(5 years and 3536 days ago)Great job filling out your step by step, really helpful. Good tips from everyone as well! A fun image with a good step by step!
(5 years and 3537 days ago)Another suggestion: you can do your sbs WHILE you do your work on PS, saving each path as low res JPEG in a folder called "SBS of...", for example, using the option "save as". That's the way I do... GL!
