Perhaps you should have chosen to crop...the missing parts are very distracting to an otherwise spectacular image Author...
(5 years and 2809 days ago)Author: what brand name or logo is this?
(5 years and 2837 days ago)Nice white/white....very well done with the lighting to bring out the detail. Good entry, Good Luck...
(5 years and 2838 days ago)Although...I I yet to find the Twizzlers in the shot?!? A set-up snack perhaps? LOL
DW, I beg to differ with you...I think this shot is perfectly on topic as it is obvious they are at a racing track due to the formation of the cars and the barrier fence...The fans are as much a part of the experience as the cars and as long as the shot includes the race, seems fairly logical to me it should be on topic. A random shot of a crowd, no, as it could be any event, but again, this is clearly a motor-sports race..
(5 years and 2839 days ago)This is nice, but, personally I would have removed the debris (sticks and stuff) from the foreground as it very much distracts from the model...
(5 years and 2840 days ago)nicely done author...
(5 years and 2842 days ago)WoW...just...WOW!...love this. The composition is spot on, the tones are wonderful and it's almost like they posed for you. I love the eye contact you captured with the young one....just a top quality entry. Good Luck author.
(5 years and 2842 days ago)Victim's of war are not aggressors...not solders...lavenderflower23, think before you comment...these people did not by all means cause a war or fight in it for whatever reason, they were definitely "INNOCENT" civilians...
(5 years and 2845 days ago)I cannot imagine what these people went through, I was a voluntary combatant in a time of war, but, that was my choice...
I think personally this would be better in B&W than sepia toned...sepia should be reserved (IMHO) for period photos, like old west and such...I enjoy the composition and subject, but maybe this is not perhaps the best treatment for this subject?
(5 years and 2846 days ago)Funny, the dog has that "WTF?!?" look going on...mine would have chewed the cups, ate the chips and sat there saying, "Thanks dad for the play-time"
(5 years and 2846 days ago)Author...can you explain the strange patterns in this image?....it appears to be a bad scan, and if scanned, from where?
(5 years and 2853 days ago)Wonderful idea and not a bad attempt...the image is very well organized and has a story or concept but lacks "WOW"....in the future, try a lower angle perhaps and try to avoid centering everything...read up on the 'rule of thirds' and work on you composition a bit, but otherwise, I really enjoy this image.
(5 years and 2855 days ago)I can tell, the shoulder of the bird is in the lower right corner...its dark colored indicating the back of the bird, these are lighter colored in the front...it's facing away and looking back
(5 years and 2855 days ago)I like the idea, and the result with the exception of the upper arms...where the elbow breaks appears a bit un-natural and curved...if you could fix that, it would be an awesome image.
(5 years and 2859 days ago)Much better Author, well done.
(5 years and 2861 days ago)Really Author, I just don't know what to add but another "wow"...
(5 years and 2861 days ago)Fantastic shot, the angle of the light creates a wonderful leading line to the subject, the composition is spot-on, the blackness surrounding the subject and the pose create a wonderful story-telling image...
what is he doing? where is he? why is he there? is he in solitary? is he in pain, torment?
The viewer involvement and imagination are wonderful. Simply top notch work Author! This has to be one of my all time Fav's
Agree author, stopping jets...better, stopping slow moving clouds, well...now u got the idea... much better, thank you
(5 years and 2862 days ago)Correct, called 'growth rings' each ring is 1 year, but, not a wood knot...sorry author
(5 years and 2862 days ago)Not really a high-speed stop motion IMHO...last time I checked clouds and contrails don't really move all that fast?
(5 years and 2862 days ago)Oh..."It thinks its a pig..." I get it...sorry author, the title threw me off, I'm a bit slow in my old age...LOL...good shot never-the-less
(5 years and 2864 days ago)(thank you Amanda...I'm gettin old LOL)
Author...u thinks it's a pig??? LOL, it's a horse, need to study animals a bit more....
(5 years and 2864 days ago)Wonderful colors and composition author, well shot and good entry! My only suggestion is to crop out the partial tree on the right of the photo? I find it a bit distracting, but, others may not..Love the just "Green" of the whole image though...
(5 years and 2864 days ago)@ MnMCarta...not sure who Edgar Winter is?!? OMG!!!!! Dang... Google it...LOL
(5 years and 2865 days ago)LOL...I get it...nice shot, well done author
(5 years and 2866 days ago)Other than needing a bit of noise touch-up in the shadow areas, this is by far one of the best story-telling photo's in this competition...well done author...great photo
(5 years and 2866 days ago)Author, having hair isn't all it's cracked up to be...as they say, "I'm not bald, this is a solar panel for a sex machine!"....LOL
(5 years and 2866 days ago)So mossy...fog or smoke isn't fog or smoke because it's not just water (H2O) vapor? As a firefighter and smoker...I happen to know that fog, smog and smoke are normally made of several hundred products of combustion, no matter what the source...does it sincerely matter? Does it warrant such a response? IMHO, NO! The effect is the same...as a matter of fact the Author never claimed these bubbles were 'full of fog' but rather 'smoke'....smoke is a by-product of combustion, containing from 10's to 100's of different chemicals depending on the temperature of the chemical and physical reaction...
(5 years and 2867 days ago)interesting effect, but honestly, it really does not work for me here...would have preferred to see a nice crisp image...
(5 years and 2867 days ago)Well, I think I'll sit this one out...LOL....I bow to you author, well done!
(5 years and 2868 days ago)Nice work author...very well done
(5 years and 2868 days ago)Indeed, although 'Barry' is somewhat questionable, at best...the set-up is great...the cover of the album differs just enough from the BG to be outstanding...again, great job author...
(5 years and 2868 days ago)I mean seriously, the outline of the hair almost perfectly matches...author, you need a new hair-style...Lol
Wonderful... good job author, nice concept
(5 years and 2868 days ago)Nicely done author...i admire the set-up and dedication...well deserved win my friend
(5 years and 2868 days ago)BARRY!!!! My Hero! ...LOL...nice shot author...and well, I'm sincerely sorry you own this (although you blame it on the wife )...hehe
(5 years and 2868 days ago)Shouldn't you have dyed your hair to match the album cover? Just asking, the beauty is in the details author...
There you go author!!! an on-topic entry to open the contest! way to go...and cudo's for being old enough to own some classic vinyl
(5 years and 2868 days ago)BTW...nice addition of the mic to the composition.
Appears to be a dry water ride, not an actual roller coaster, but neat effect anyway
(5 years and 2868 days ago)Really cool concept, great lighting and detail, the high rez is awesome...so welll done author, love it!
(5 years and 2869 days ago)Everything DW sayz...and just incredible detail also, wonderful entry author.
(5 years and 2869 days ago)I have to agree w/ DW here...this would have been awesome as a symmetry shot cropped to square format. the colors are vibrant and appealing though
(5 years and 2869 days ago)interesting take on it author, well done for outside the box thinking
(5 years and 2873 days ago)Love it, the detail and the colors really work here...well done
(5 years and 2873 days ago)HOLY BIRDS!!!! Just an incredible opportunistic shot...great find author and nice shot
(5 years and 2873 days ago)I like the contrast, but the lines and angles really make this shot...well done on the crop and composition author. In a contest with so many entries it's difficult to get a shot that stands out. Wonderful work author.
(5 years and 2873 days ago)Seagulls are dainty eaters?!? ROFL....nice find author and well shot also...too darn funny
(5 years and 2873 days ago)Clever find author...well done
(5 years and 2878 days ago)Jackdaw? author, I haven't heard that term used in years...LOL...nicely shot, I really like the tones here although I may have cropped a bit more off the right of the photo, not much though...well done
(5 years and 2878 days ago)Agree, the photo is spot-on according to the guidelines and an interesting shot author, but, please straighten the horizon for a better scoring entry.
(5 years and 2879 days ago)Lovely...were it just a bit sharper, this would be a "super-shot"...I love the contrast and the composition...wonderful entry author...well done
(5 years and 2892 days ago)Excellent set-up author, wonderful shot! Well done!!! Love it.
(5 years and 2894 days ago)Mossy, the shadow is to the left, but also towards the camera, indicating the subject is between the the light source and the camera. I think I know what i'm talking about here when it comes to the subject of lighting...
