why the flowers are so blurry is beyond me. i mean i know why they are blurred, but there is no reason for it other than laziness. While i like the idea of your composition, and some of the other issues have already been touched on, i will mention the flowers. They are blurred because you made the first ones small to place onto the tree and did not duplicate yourself an original of the larger sized flowers. then when you resized the small flowers to big ones it made them blurry. always save an original layer you can go back to with your objects.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)I like the butterflies, but i would like to have seen you repaint the flowers as well. the blend of whimsical painted objects and the realistic flowers contrast form each other too much and create too much conflict in the image. it would look amazing with the flowers treated like the butterflies.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)i would like to have seen you try to make the woman and the other additions to the statue more stone like in look. otherwise this is not working for me. good luck!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)fun image, great work. reminds me of 16bit video games... great retro feel for sure.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)the postmark stamp looks great! i think the actual stamp could use some work. The flowers and the stamp feel like two different color pallets are used. If you use the "Match Color" adjustment it will help shift the colors to match better (Image > Adjustments > Match Color). Just have the layer selected that the color needs to be adjusted, then in the match color, select the source, being the layer that you want to match the color to. adjust the sliders until you get the look that you want and you are good. ;] Great work overall! good luck!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)excellent work author! like the printed tapestry look you gave it. good luck!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)I like the idea author, but you may wish to take a look through some tutorials on lighting. it can be tricky to get the lighting right in such a large scene, but getting it right can make for a hugely better look. Also i am sad to see the flowers be placed so far from the main focus that it is a wonder why even include them, other than the fact that they were the source for the contest. Keep practicing and have fun!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)2 color design is really fun when done right. play with the brightness/contrast until you can get the objects to look how you want. in this image the taller flower loses some distinction due to it not having defined edges. a good mask using the pen tool can also help with stubborn edges when they are similar in color to the background. keep practicing!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)I like the idea author, but it seems you bit off a little more than you could chew with this one. Keep practicing i see a lot of potential, with your eye for the details in the design. you still need to work on your eye for the workmanship. really the only object that looks like it was placed in well is the woman with the gun. all other images are either too blurred, or have some poor masking done. A tip for masking is to always use the pen tool to mask, then to feather your selection by about 2px (depending on the size of the image), and also to contract/expand the selection slightly.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)Such a great job in composition and execution. Only thing that is keeping me from voting even higher is how her dress is blending in with the flower. it seems too feathered and blurred and not as well placed and cut as it could be. I do think this is the best entry in this contest and have very high hopes of seeing this doing well in the contest! Good Luck!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)@Author
(5 years and 2867 days ago)it is too bad you did not take the time to listen to Eladine's helpful words. before i saw the comments i was thinking the exact same. while you have done a good job of placing the flower in the ground, the ethereal back lighting for this flower would still cast a shadow, probably a long shadow to where the stem's shadow would probably be all that is seen in the image. I do wish you the best of luck, and i hope that many others have a less detailed eye than myself and Eladine.
Looks great! lots of work put in on this one. I still feel like i can see through the trunk of the tree slightly, but i feel that if it hadn't been mentioned i don't think i would have noticed.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)Great work, good luck!
Very neat work, like the way the smoke was turned to a woman's dress. I do see some hard white edges to the "arms", and parts of the dress, which suggest that the masking was just a little off. What helps me mask objects cleanly is to first use the pen tool, which takes more time, but yields much finer results. Then once i have my selection made, I will feather the selection by about 2px, and maybe contract/expand the selection a little as well to get only the object and nothing outside of it. Doing this will give e softer, more natural look to your objects.
(5 years and 2867 days ago)Good Luck!
The hair looks like it took some time to do, and looks great. the rest of the images, not so much. In future works, pay attention to your masking and i always suggest using the pen tool as it works on mathematical formulas to create smooth precise lines, which will prevent your masked objects from getting sharp jagged edges. Very creative work! God luck!
(5 years and 2867 days ago)AWESOME IMAGE!!
(5 years and 3470 days ago)only one thing and not sure if i'm even right, but it is the yellow lines you have in the bg, they appear to be reflected onto the floor, which if this is the case then you would want to remove the part of the lines on top of the monster's reflection and make them appear behind the reflection as they do for the bg of the image... but hey i guess they could be a different set of yellow lines running along the floor...
do not re-post, goto MyStuff > MyContests then "edit entry" there you can upload a revised version that does not have your logo on it...
(5 years and 3518 days ago)i was going to enter this contest but if i do i have to know i won't be winning... great entry. fantastic drawing skills!
(5 years and 3525 days ago)yeah kinda cheating using an already analogous image... all you would have to do is color select and replace... Definitely something to do to get your mind in the right way to create something awesome for this contest, i would advise finding a non-analogous image and creating the color scheme yourself... good luck!
(5 years and 3542 days ago)SBS?
(5 years and 3542 days ago)you are going to need to upload the sbs for this...
(5 years and 3542 days ago)this is from a tutorial?
(5 years and 3542 days ago)that spit flying from her mouth is so gross!! LOVE IT! GL!
(5 years and 3545 days ago)in high speed photography you would not get any blur from an object unless it left the focal point of the camera. there would be no motion blur indicating direction of motion, nor would there be ghost objects indicating the motion either... high speed photos pick up a fraction of a second which unless the objects are moving at the speed of sound (roughly 340.29 meters per second), then they would be clean crisp objects. just suspended in a frame of their animation... GL!
(5 years and 3545 days ago)best entry so far!! great job author!! about the sign on the right... while it does distract slightly from the image it is not a problem for the picture... however you could easily crop it out which would really direct focus to the waterfall! GOOD LUCK!
(5 years and 3545 days ago)to me this would feel more realistic if the center lines form the road were not there... granted sometimes the artist mimicked in this contest would leave portions of the road in for effect, but this does not feel like that is the case here... remove the center lines and i would totally believe it! GL!
(5 years and 3545 days ago)hmm... did you really need the Celtic cross in order to create this image? perhaps you could have had the bird you created sitting on the cross instead of a branch... either way imo the source was not used at all... only the color white was used.
(5 years and 3545 days ago)please see the contest description... i see no SBS, nor any link to the PXL tut used....
(5 years and 3547 days ago)please see the contest description... i see no SBS, nor any link to the PXL tut used....
(5 years and 3547 days ago)the bunny is funny with the wide eyes! i don't believe that he is running though, looks to me more like he is hopping... rabbits run FAST and they are really close to the ground and stretched out while they are in a full sprint... i would take a look at some images of rabbits at full speed... great work though! GL!
(5 years and 3548 days ago)LMAO!!! freakin awesome ninja!!
(5 years and 3548 days ago)great work!!!
(5 years and 3548 days ago)The Flash could do it at the speed of sound... ;]
(5 years and 3548 days ago)the duplicated jogger takes away from the image... basically you would get that repeated image look with a long exposure camera not a highspeed.
think of it this way, you are catching a split second of a moment... view a few of the other entries in he contest to get a good idea of what the contest is looking for...
also the shadow of the jogger does not match the light source for the background... and the lighting of the jogger is opposite of both the background light source and the shadow added...
GL!!
the big thing to me is that the bullet is off perspective and off the path of the holes made... drawing a line through it gave me an up ward trajectory which then means you should have the bullet slightly above the apple... also far too much entry debris and imo, a bit too much exit as well... but just slightly so ;] good work on the exit debris though looks pretty good. GL!
(5 years and 3550 days ago)sad that not more people got the Yellow Submarine reference to the glove... maybe had you colored it blue and such... freakin awesome though!!
(5 years and 3556 days ago)my mistake.
(5 years and 3556 days ago)looks pretty cool! i hope it can stay in the contest however... if you read in the guidelines for the site, it mentions that for the drawing contests they have to be done on paper and scanned in. digital drawing would fall into the photoshop contests no the drawing contests... GL!
(5 years and 3557 days ago)love the simple look and feel! excellent work!!
(5 years and 3561 days ago)nice try author... take a look around for some tutorials on using realistic textures... right now it reminds me of a videogame on an old super nintendo... ;] GL!
(5 years and 3565 days ago)the sign on the door lacks perspective. the boards over the door are just about lack the same... the hole in the roof is the most believable part added... check out some tutorials on matching perspective, it is really simple once you know a few tricks! ;] GL!
(5 years and 3566 days ago)nice job on making it look as though the church was always there... something that throws it off for me though is the fence that is in the field pic. the distance appears to be the same as the church in the pic, yet the fence is tiny by comparison in size... the church then looks as though it is a giant's castle. Great work though and good luck!
(5 years and 3566 days ago)high-res is a mess... the vines don't seem to follow the contour of the walls, poor masking on the back and top of the church. i do like the mood, and idea. but there is still some work left to be done on this one. GL!
(5 years and 3566 days ago)now that's infinite! GL!
(5 years and 3567 days ago)the look on the girl's face to the right of him is perfect!! you couldn't have asked for a better source for this! GL!
(5 years and 3568 days ago)great job! GL!
(5 years and 3569 days ago)great work author! GL!
(5 years and 3569 days ago)Awesome job! high-res lookes flawless. Excelent job leading to infinity!
(5 years and 3569 days ago)it is better now, but i did like the style before... well it still isn't quite infinity as you can see where it stops in the center... you would want to finish it out to where it loses all distinction, and becomes nothing... great work! GL!
(5 years and 3570 days ago)i don't agree at all author... those examples you showed to prove your point actually hurt your point... they all have some type of symmetry to them, yours is more chaotic... part of the infinite nature of the effect is it's symmetry...
(5 years and 3570 days ago)well you attempted to recreate the image from the wiki entry... but didn't quite do it... F for originality, and D for execution... gl.
(5 years and 3570 days ago)LoL... way to copy the wiki entry...
