You seem to have some chromatic aberration (purple lines) around the branches. There is a way to remedy this in photoshop (which you are not allowed to use for these contests
(5 years and 533 days ago)Have you considered a closer crop at the left (viewer's left)? This would eliminate the white blank space as the tendency for our brains is to always gravitate to the brightest pop on the canvas.
A well-seen photograph and makes me want to walk there along that path.
This photo looks much better in high res because as is it seems soft. It is too bad that the beak has been chopped off by the branch, you also have chromatic aberration around the branches.
(5 years and 543 days ago)Nice photo but what about oraange ?
(5 years and 577 days ago)I agree with you that by leaving in the shadows the photo doesn't look staged , natural and unpretentious and that is good for that was exactly what you were gunning for. I do however, see more red than orange. The photo is sharp and is making my mouth water, especially with drawn butter....oh my.
(5 years and 577 days ago)I love this...
(5 years and 584 days ago)from early sea to modern sky transportation (the plane) and a growing city...
ohh cant miss that tiny boat 😂😂
its powerful but somewhere a bit dull...
photo lookes soft and there's a green tint on the sky...
A ship rollin'in and a sailboat "rollin" out! Good catch and nice pov. You also caught the plane and gave meat to your story. You do have to clean your sensor there are numerous dust spots throughout your image...dust the bane of all photographers. The image is soft and most likely once again you were gunning for a dreamy effect.
(5 years and 584 days ago)No artistic license here, this is THE FRISCO BAY ! A great shot with the inclusion of the sailboat although I would have like to see the bridge sharp as a pin, the softness does give this piece a dreamy feel.
(5 years and 585 days ago)but left some for you. This is a clean capture, well in focus and composed to the side at eye level. I like it....so did the deer!
(5 years and 585 days ago)Lovely, simply lovely.
(5 years and 586 days ago)congrats on the win
(5 years and 586 days ago)Heartwarming photo.
(5 years and 587 days ago)Congrats on this win!
(5 years and 587 days ago)Congrats Daniel
(5 years and 587 days ago)It's a simple and stong image with a clear message and we know it's spring by the nakedness of the trees. A KISS kinda image and I'm a sucker for KISS.
(5 years and 591 days ago)This rope is sharp and clear , so sharp you could cut yourself on it....did you use high pass to sharpen?
(5 years and 592 days ago)Looks like snow does not belong in this part of the world, yet here it is. A good eye to see this photograph.
(5 years and 618 days ago)Sweet image and the title is great. It's a make us smile upload.
(5 years and 618 days ago)Very pretty with the dusting of snow. You live just a few miles north of my son (Scarborough).
(5 years and 625 days ago)Congrats for winning
(5 years and 628 days ago)Wahoooo, congratulations
(5 years and 629 days ago)Congrats, nice work
(5 years and 629 days ago)This looks like a painting, if you put it through a filter it was well done.
(5 years and 630 days ago)You need to visit Thailand, I hope your cross country move brought you closer to the Pacific.
(5 years and 631 days ago)A wee bit out of focus but the idea is great and the colours splendid.
(5 years and 631 days ago)The crop could enhance this to bring us closer to the focal point. Blue and Magenta snow? Were you shooting on A mode or M because manual would give you more creative power. I like that you actually saw firewood and shot it!
(5 years and 631 days ago)Nice to see you back here, where have you been? I like this because it looks old and loved. You've got sharp detail and wonderful texture.
(5 years and 632 days ago)Congrats for winning
(5 years and 719 days ago)Congrats Daniel
(5 years and 720 days ago)If you used your Levels you could have darkened it, mind you it would have darkened the whole image....don't think the mid tone lever would have done the job.
(5 years and 721 days ago)Gorgeous, but you do need to clone out the white hair inside her nostril before you give her this photograph.
(5 years and 722 days ago)For some reason, I find this image heartwarming. What a nice scene to stumble upon...natural, fresh, breezy.
(5 years and 722 days ago)I never knew that, THANK YOU. Why then did the magpies in Australia decide to pounce on my husband's bald head I wonder? Could be because they were nesting, or so an Aussie told us. Nice photograph with a story, albeit a wet one.
(5 years and 750 days ago)I really like the artistry of this piece. Very warm colour palette and cold rain makes for good visual juxtaposition.
(5 years and 750 days ago)The Mist !
(5 years and 750 days ago)Is this rain? How was this shot done?
(5 years and 751 days ago)I really like the intentional creative blur with this image. The colours are warm and appealing as well.
(5 years and 758 days ago)Very beautiful!!!
(5 years and 765 days ago)Very interesting description, I did not know this type of bridge
(5 years and 791 days ago)Was your car going sideways?
(5 years and 797 days ago)Hi there, nice to see you posting. I like the thought that went into taking this photo and you have good photographer's eyes to see this....and shoot it too.
(5 years and 841 days ago)I just had a lot of fun cropping your image down. I love the patterns caught, the reflections and of course your title. Nice colour saturation, honest image.
(5 years and 881 days ago)Centered framing gives a steady feel but had you composed it with more room to travel into the image would have had a movement feel to it...it's all about artistic prerogative, I bow to yours. A peaceful shot, taken on a hazy diffused low light day.
(5 years and 881 days ago)Not so much back as bottom, and if you saw the whole bird it would surely be the front of them?
(5 years and 885 days ago)What draws the viewer to this shot is the warmth felt in the glow of the evening sun where long shadows have been cast. Focus is sharp on the main focal point, the rope and it too has retired for the day. Titles are very much part of the creative process and your title marries well with this shot. I like the spacious marginal space you have provided. It is a cohesive image that ties in the focal point, to the day and is presented "tied" up in a nice package for the viewer.
(5 years and 889 days ago)Love the title, made me laugh. Also the photo is darned fine in silhouette and formatted into letterbox....grrrrrreat.
(5 years and 890 days ago)I see this chubby fella is on a diet! LOL. I do feel this image comes across as blurred somewhat and that is possibly because he's quickly noshing it down. In the high res it appears blurry also. I like the idea of coming in close on a wee beastie that is busy eating.
(5 years and 894 days ago)Did you know titles matter and are part of the creative process and could mean the difference between a buy and not buy at a gallery showing? I really like your title it marries well with the image which I do find a tad busy but then after all there is a reason for the traffic jam. This was not an easy photo to capture during the harsh shadow time of day but you did well on the exposure.
(5 years and 894 days ago)All about the birds and the bees huh?! Nice action shot caught, a bit of a blow out but in times of love who cares..
(5 years and 896 days ago)This photo looks sensational in high resolution. Love the way you used your dof artistically and the colour palette is so warm and appeals to the viewer. Great eyes to see this and to shoot it so well. Congrats.
(5 years and 897 days ago)It seems like your patience paid off. Beautiful capture
