I'm a bit suspicious of this one too. Not just the shadow but the perfect horizon line and the shaft of light from the sun. Maybe it's a rare occurrence when things look surreal and I'm just a bit jealous!

"stripes and/or squares" IMO it would be on theme as the squares are a dominant feature.

I really like the lighting along with the grass's vertical lines against the ripples on the water.

I am sorry, but I still feel this should be disqualified. I am a stickler for rules. Not even a black piece of card would make such a solid defined line. This is selective editing.

While I think this is a fantastic photo, I think there has been selective editing applied to where the forehead meets the hairline (visible in hi-res). It looks like a solid black curve has been applied to unify the line of the face. I think this is against competition rules.
