(5 years and 909 days ago)Well done
(5 years and 911 days ago)a little smoke and air dance. love the simple.
(5 years and 915 days ago)Nice work
(5 years and 917 days ago)How can we not fall in love with this lovely "wee beastie". Because you have full sharpness on the eyes you captivate us with your post. I am curious about his iris and what an unusual shape they are. No, it does not matter that you have nipped his ears off because it's about the eyes and of course those whiskers that are as sharp "as a whisker". Your tonal ranges are vast with black to white and gray in between. Did you know there are 256 shades of gray? I love how the background disappears for all the attention is on that "smushable" face. What is his name please.
(5 years and 919 days ago)Looks to me like your upload has called up more berries to be viewed. I love the presence of this berry in minimal colour palette so that the red juiciness pops out and seduces us into dreams of whip cream and berries. This is a no nonsense image taken at an exact and thought out point of view that instantly engages the viewers. Furthermore, the berry, the main focal point is sharp and nothing at all interferes with the viewer's journey into this portrait of a berry. Colours are natural and sincere. A delight! (with whip cream )
(5 years and 919 days ago)I find it interesting that I, who usually hates snakes, find this fellow rather sweet looking and endearing, no doubt it is because of the way you composed him. The eye catch is really well done and that is the first thing I saw, were those innocent eyes and he looks almost frightened of that lens of yours. You captured him well, he is sharp as a pin, and the colour is real without overcooking in any aspect. The dof is also nice with softness as we look in but enough to show his habitat. Also, you do not have anything that competes with his portrait. I think we ought to give him a name....how about HARRY ! wink
(5 years and 919 days ago)Thats a cute snake I like snakes
(5 years and 920 days ago)very moody image this and like the starkness in this, nice one
(5 years and 928 days ago)My avatar has a photo of me. I'm in the middle of traveling right now and just can't get my head around taking a photo of me.
(5 years and 928 days ago)The play of light is excellent, a grand chiaroscuro effect. Sharp and full of mystery and exotica. Nice to meet you face to face. I consider this to be pure photographic art....worthy of framing.
(5 years and 929 days ago)Finn, how did you make the whites of the eyes blue? I just knew you had to have a beautiful blue eyed photo hiding in your stock!
(5 years and 930 days ago)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gclxuhHq0RA
(5 years and 933 days ago)This would be much better if you removed the blue form the back/and fore ground.
(5 years and 933 days ago)This would also look good in black and white with eyes painted out! (for the blue contest but you can't submit it because you already have it here). How about another one?
(5 years and 936 days ago)Yes, they do. I lived with our Canadian Indians up north and they hunt these geese. It was quite sad when one was shot down the mate would circle and cry and eventually would get shot down too. They make really good eating, dark meat but sometimes you get a shotgun and that will crack your teeth. Now you know
(5 years and 936 days ago)This really speaks of new beginnings. The fact you had to lay down on your stomach to get this shot, so close to the ground propels it to the top of the class. Your saturation and colour is natural and the blurred foreground really engages the viewer to look inward. Just lovely, a pleasure to study.
(5 years and 938 days ago)PS I was in some garlic fields yesterday and thanks to this shot I tried your technique, so special thank you for inspiring me with your image.
I just wanted to say that a flower still closed would have better matched about this contest.
(5 years and 938 days ago)I bet you were excited to capture this photograph. Shot against the sky the geese really pop out nicely and the three is the magic number our brains love. Don't know if you know this but geese mate for life!
(5 years and 938 days ago)Simply lovely in high key processing, try a white vignette, a gentle vignette and see if you like the artistic value.
(5 years and 938 days ago)They are among the first spring flowers in northern hemisphere
(5 years and 939 days ago)For me this picture does not represent a beginning, these are just open flowers...
(5 years and 942 days ago)Lovely
(5 years and 943 days ago)Congratulations
(5 years and 950 days ago)Congrats on the win
(5 years and 950 days ago)Big Congratulations!
(5 years and 951 days ago)Big Congratulations!
(5 years and 951 days ago)Great HQ photo. Congrats!
(5 years and 951 days ago)Congratulation, a beautiful simple photo. Well done.
(5 years and 951 days ago)Certainly colourful, but I feel it would have made a more interesting photo if we could see it being made.
(5 years and 952 days ago)Can't go wrong with this colourful entry.
(5 years and 952 days ago)good idea.
(5 years and 952 days ago)I like the composition with the lens slightly offcenter, and the bokeh does an excellent job of picking up the highlight color. Is there a reason you didn't make the Nikon logo visible?
(5 years and 953 days ago)It is still a very lovely presentation.
(5 years and 954 days ago)I am not an apple farmer but if I was I would want my apples to look this way. Water, is life giving, as is the apple and you have married the two together in a beautiful way. The dof could be sharper and did you use a tripod? I do love the light source shining from above. I can hear the crunch. The fact that you chose a nice black background further punctuates the main focal point. Love the crop for it is out of the box thinking and it works.
(5 years and 956 days ago)You're off to a great start! You'll learn a lot on this site; I know I already have. What I appreciate the most is that the comments people make on your work are designed to help you hone your abilities.
(5 years and 957 days ago)Excellent presentation. The apple gives the appearance of being a fresh, healthy product. There is also great space, particularly in the upper right corner to give a simple message.
(5 years and 957 days ago)Nice, but the main subject is not in focus. Otherwise would've given 100%.
(5 years and 1026 days ago)Sorry for honest comment.
I love the creativity here. It is simple and strong and very effective for bringing a smile to the viewer. The colours are rich, the background doesn't compete, it is a sharp photograph, well exposed, nicely contrasted and good marginal space. When you have round objects, try using perfectly square format, the reason for this is because the equidistant sides of the square help keep our eye within the frame...the pathway of the eye goes around and around but bounces off the 4 walls....try it, see if you find the image becomes stronger. Top notch work here.
(5 years and 1034 days ago)Dear Heart,
(5 years and 1036 days ago)I am new here so do not enter any contests after speaking with me because I may guide you incorrectly. This is just advice for you to do at home. Take the photo, go into photoshop, go up to "ARTISTIC" filter and choose anyone and monkey with that photo until something comes out that you really like. There is something our teachers in photography used to say "try to bring the photo a touch above normal" try to make it better somehow, not ordinary...it's just about creativity and listening to your artistic angel sitting there on your shoulder. Most importantly have fun.
Sincerely,
Still26
Any filter at all. I think this photo would lend itself to some good manipulation, it is a goood shot with minimal colour palette. Just a suggestion for you....to play with during these cold winter months!
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Have you tried changing this to b/w high contrast? I think you could have a lot of fun with this photograph in filters as well...try the "stamp" filter if you have one, just to give you an abstraction.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)I like what you did, those headlights work well. After all we say photography is all about "painting with light" and you show this well. I think that child is very hardy to be outside in that blizzard with just a t-shirt! Nice movement here and we can really engage with the image. Also, that off centered compositional style suits the "movement" feel. Brrrr, nice!
(5 years and 1039 days ago)Congrats Finn!
(5 years and 1041 days ago)Congratulations.
(5 years and 1041 days ago)Very nice
(5 years and 1048 days ago)This is very nice but it kind of says you have to have the two shots.
(5 years and 1148 days ago)Lovely sky
(5 years and 1156 days ago)Congratulations on 2nd. well done.
(5 years and 1265 days ago)Congrats!
