I'm sorry, don't know what kind of post processing you did, but to me this look like a bad scan of magazine cutting. I'm not suggesting that you have done that, but that is the effect you have achieved, IMO>

There are a lot of things you can do in Photoshop that are allowed, cropping is certainly one of them, as is the use of curves, sharpening, noise reduction, most things that is done to the whole image.
