The lighting brings out the varied textures well. Some of the vividness of the statue is lost, though, due to proximity to the greenery. The message of gathering for "the gentle art of good living" fits the statue.
(5 years and 1082 days ago)This is a nice juxtaposition between the "then" and "now". I especially like the overpowering nature of the statues in the foreground. This is one of those shots I'd wish were available either earlier or later in the day so that shadows would accentuate the age of the statues.
(5 years and 1082 days ago)If the hat on the front figure was a little more above or below the tree line, it would have stood out more for me. You captured the pensive tone well.
(5 years and 1082 days ago)I prefer the rusty look the way it is. The color variation is much greater than I'd expect.
(5 years and 1082 days ago)ahhh like a breath of fresh air - good one.
(5 years and 1084 days ago)I am totally taken with that shadow within the circle, what a catch! This is a very exciting image and the colour palette with blues/magenta and purple predominating gives a cool and quite feel but that circle spakles with yellow excitement. Good one.
(5 years and 1085 days ago)Ahh ha ha ha how clever of you to find this! Cirlce in the wheel and triangle within the wheel. Like that antiquated look about this photo. I bet if you changed it into sepia it would enhance that OLD feel. Still it is a good sharp image with softness whispered in the background.
(5 years and 1085 days ago)Congrats
(5 years and 1086 days ago)congrats for winning
(5 years and 1086 days ago)Congrats Vibeke

(5 years and 1093 days ago)well done
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Ahhh what a story your image puts out to us...makes us think. This is great.
(5 years and 1093 days ago)I like the communication felt between the workers and YOU the photographer. The image is sharp and to the point. It is also full of exotica.
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Good to see Christchurch has recovered from their earthquakes in such a colourful fashion. A sharp, 'bristling' image that engages the eye readily with colour. It is bright and well contrasted and taken on a bright sunny day yet not many harsh shadows at all. Reminds me of our streetcars in Toronto from years ago. Nice shot.
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Purple and pink have such an emotional pull for me, they are my colours and always touch my heart and memories. The technique used to capture this drop is excellent, the work is worth framing and hanging. LOVE IT
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Congrats Vibeke, 1, 2 & 3 well done
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Congrats again Vibeke
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Congrats Vibeke, well done
(5 years and 1093 days ago)Taken from a hot air balloon? Certainly our interest is piqued and that curiosity is what holds us to your photograh. Do you think it could use a bit more contrast?
(5 years and 1094 days ago)Nice!
(5 years and 1094 days ago)I like the juxtaposition between the leisure and the work, among other implications.
(5 years and 1095 days ago)This photo looks like you thought about it...it is well balanced, nicely centered and technically sharp. Good one.
(5 years and 1095 days ago)Beautiful phone, good luck
(5 years and 1095 days ago)A terrific concept and capture for this theme.
(5 years and 1096 days ago)Well done!
Wow this was not an easy image to get so right. You have bright sky in the background that would throw off your meter and yet you have the lanterns lit, no hot spots and the hdr effect punches out the details.
(5 years and 1098 days ago)congrats for winning
(5 years and 1100 days ago)Congrats Vibeke
(5 years and 1100 days ago)Such melancholy.
(5 years and 1101 days ago)Very rich.
(5 years and 1101 days ago)Another great job of keeping the edges clean. I know it is not easy.
(5 years and 1101 days ago)The edges here are about as clean as it can be. Nice work
(5 years and 1101 days ago)Nice
(5 years and 1102 days ago)A "Cellulose" Phone?
(5 years and 1102 days ago)Reminds me of Mary Katrantzou's SS12 collection, poppy field prints
lovely image author
(5 years and 1105 days ago)Nice shot. Are the colors in the bottle,, or through some type of lighting?
(5 years and 1108 days ago)KAPOW through the roof good! Strong visual impact...good eyes.
(5 years and 1109 days ago)Good eye, lots of eye candy with this catch...should do well.
(5 years and 1109 days ago)Wish you would tell us where this was taken....NZ?
(5 years and 1109 days ago)I don't know but I find this cute, Pac-Man rock
good luck author
(5 years and 1109 days ago)lovely street
(5 years and 1109 days ago)Cute, ladybug street
(5 years and 1109 days ago)Love the well worn buildings in this, and guessed it was Italy as soon as I saw it,would love to know where it was,has a good pastel quality to it,nice one this.
(5 years and 1111 days ago)I really like that abstract flow to this photoraph, the lines and the colours visually attract me to this upload. I also think your compositional style brings a strength and balance and the contrast and saturation are skillfully done. However, the image doesn't look sharp, in the hi-res presentation it looks much better. I would encourage you to put that in your description, that the members study this in high resolution , that way your marks given to you will be higher...I'm sure. Lovely entry.
(5 years and 1112 days ago)Japan without a crowd on your street...WOW. The colours pop pop pop all over the place and this shot has a very strong visual appeal with great story to be had. Sharp and well worked in post processing it is an image worthy of being published in a magazine.
(5 years and 1113 days ago)HOLY GUACAMOLE this is a very powerful shot, full of vibrance, the poppy is pin sharp, your selective colour out technique is flawless, exposure good and the gray zone is balanced and smartly handled. A strong and engaging image...a pleasure to review.
(5 years and 1113 days ago)This upload of a Shinto ceremony looks like a lot of work. You do have spillage of orange on the floor, and marginal misses on the pillar but you need to go to Hi-res and enlarge to see them. More prominent are orange telltale plops on the man's head and into the background as well as the folded zig zag banner. One thing you could do, instead of redoing everything is just to go in with a desaturate brush and eliminate those sneaky oranges. It is unfortunate that the priest's face is obliterated by the banner and the woman is generously amputated. We do get the story that this is a quiet moment and most likely cameras were considered intrusive.
(5 years and 1114 days ago)Congrats again Vibeke, very pretty
