Lol, this is cool & funny !
I like that wall a lot and how you blended so that texture won't repeat.

And i would like to take advantage of this opportunity to bash photoexpress where new members can't download for free: bash! bash! bash!.

Good luck author.

Pretty cool design.
In CG there's a concept named "density"= meaning the amount and quality of the texture applied in the image.
Graphic designer try to level the overall density so that their works won't look photoshop/collage.
The main density rupture in this entry is that everything besides the creature is blurry, and most we can see more details on the creature than on the foreground, even if they are both part of the focal point.
Some people use noise/fog brushes to create atmosphere and level the density.
I hope my comment is coherent enough and helps. Congrats on your awesome color palette!

Colored skin is sexy! I'm glad you decided to do that!
You could also try to color up her hair, make it blonde-ish so that it relates to the shield.
And if you have time, try to experiment with some grass, some sky, like she's sitting on a rock at the edge of a cliff. Maybe you can even find a nice castle stock and place it on a far hill in the background.
You can improve this a lot!

Not bad! You should however blur the edges.
The easiest way is:
1. Ctrl click on the separate layer thumbnail to select it.
2. go to selection modify contract by 1 or 2 pxl depending on the image size.
3. Ctrl I to invert selection.
4. Use gaussion blur & from Edit you can fade the effect if you think it's too much.
IMO you would need to blur edges on all items in your composition so i hope you kept them on different layers.
Good luck.

For better realism, you should eliminate the lines on the edges, and use burn/dodge to create different surfaces. In real life there are no lines, only lighted & shadowed planes.
Also work on the perspective. Find the horizon line and make those construction lines converge towards it.

Finding a stock with a hand for handling the sword, would improve the quality of your entry.
You could also think of a different background since cloud render is too obvious here. GL

Nice source find. However you need some adjustments:

1.You should work out a background. BG matters a lot in giving the context & mood of an entry.
2. You could use some color on her skin & hair - this will be fun and might give a "painting" feel to it.
3.An SBS would help some to appreciate your efforts more.
That's it for know, if you need more I'll be around.

I don't really get what you're mad about:
- comments discouraging authors ?
-stock sites that want you to pay? ( like those bastards from photoexpress who no longer give free stocks to new users)
- this site's guidelines ?
- the grammar of the English language ? ( you should see French grammar!)

Anyways, good luck with your protest, i would however take all these issues one by one:
one poor entry for comments , one entry for stock and so on.

Nice concept & design.
You should check Arca's article about composition in the new PXL Magazine issue ( you'll find it on the forum).
Your vase+ flowers+ picture, cut the image in half- which is not that nice.
There are also vids on youtube about composition and those would help a lot too.

You could have:
-worked on some background- maybe using the wood as a table or some stone.
- make it look like an old papyrus and use/create more complex shapes.

But remember, Always have a background , a context for your main piece ! I learned that the hard way.

Awesomely done, I really like your brushes.
Besides what Dan said, an SBS about your brushes would prove that they are made by you, cause right now we have only your word.

Maybe I'm wrong about the method , I can guess you made them out of thresholded water splash, so if you could post the original pics, that would help.

You have INTERNET, why would you need anything else !?
Use another layer with some gradient to cover the horizon. You could also blur the sand there, and make it look like the sand is blending into the sky.
Take for example this:
www.pxleyes.com/photoshop-picture/4d31871c335dc/The-Passage-of-Time.html

You know the horizon is there, but you can't see a straight separation line, which does not hurt the composition by making the image look split in half .

For those wondering, I think you have to use displacement map for the reflection, distort -ripple might work too, but whenever i used displace on water it looked marvelous.
Then you could try edit - fade displace if you want less of that effect.
Maybe author can help more.

You could explore that opposition theme: with the guys looking at each other, only remove the grid and use (maybe) some ice- something like frozen water but which is transparent at some points so that we can recognize his reflection.
You could also use contrasting colors orange/blue and some fog in the horizon.
Damn, I miss photoshop!

Hey man, for realism you could add some wires in the back plan as well, and maybe you can find some reference for paint/blood drop on water cause i doubt it makes a star.

avatar greymval
greymval says:

There's a masking problem on the sky, I think a layer got out of place ( left side of the image right above where the wing finishes). It's pretty obvious actually even in low res.
Besides that, you have a nice entry with a good mood and a nice compositional triangle: sun in the clouds, man's butt (cause of warm color contrast + taboo ) and the white feather. You could even crop from the left, and it would still look fit.
