sword has thickness so the holes should show some of the inside of the sword not just be masked out. you could try using the pen tool to outline the hole and then add a line to the path with a bit of adjusting the colour you could give the impression of depth to the holes

You could use the bouncing raindrops (light color) to create more contrast, paint them on the upper side of the plaine which should also be lighter, so that we can distinguish the form of the plain easier. I also think that cropping the image would help the composition - too much useless space right now

Make the apple double the size and give ant shadow. Dark texture background vud suit. Nice idea. perspective to ant,, just give it a try..Carefully though.

Wouldn't want to come across that ant, it's huge. I would have picked a different color for the shadow instead of grey, possibly a darker part of the apple set to multiply.

u can also try adding shadow to the ant...it would make this looked more realistic.
