author, I understand exactly what you mean and a person must do what they must do to survive and to take care of their family. To me, this shows that he will do whatever it takes to take care of his family. I have been to places where the ONLY thing they had in their house was 2 pots to cook on in a building that was 4 walls... 4 feet by 6 feet. Nothing else! No bathroom....nothing! Not many people in the U.S. see the kind of stuff you or I may have because they usually spend their money on tourist spots. And I'm sure I've only seen a tiny fraction of how bad other countries have it. Again, I understand wh
(5 years and 2982 days ago)I have to disagree with Mossy B on this one. I would keep it just the way it is as far as compostion goes because my eye went right from the mountain to the little house. To me, the little house in the middle of nowhere is VERY interesting. It is all opinion though and what interests the viewer. The ONLY thing I could say is possibly mess with the curves or levels JUST A HAIR. This is so beautiful to me!!
(5 years and 2982 days ago)I would love to have that as my "home away from home" ))))
(5 years and 2982 days ago)Try this: Duplicate the background layer. Apply a gaussion blur at about a radius of 6. Set the layer to "soft layer". Merge (flatten) the layers and then possibly bring the saturation up a bit. These are all legal adjustments because they work on the photo as a whole. It makes it pop without changing the original photo too much.
(5 years and 2982 days ago)Sometimes, just the name of a photograph can catch the attention of a viewer. I am bad at naming things myself, but I am thinking a different name like "staggered" or something would be better than Red on Green, since I really don't see any red...I only see brown.
(5 years and 2982 days ago)I don't see any yellow, I see a slight pink, but it looks normal.
(5 years and 2982 days ago)the high resolution on this is just BEAUTIFUL!
(5 years and 2982 days ago)I agree with Mossy B. I would crop off the left so the power lines do not show and I would also crop just a bit off the bottom so that only part of the bottom petals are showing. Just take it into any photo program to crop it. I would also try to bring the saturation up a little bit and possibly curves also. Afterward, go to "My Stuff" "Contest Entries" and find this entry and click on "edit entry" and browse for the new cropped image. Then scroll down to the bottom and make sure you check the box for high resolution and then click submit.
(5 years and 2982 days ago)Ironically, I like the sunrise in your photo better I say "ironically" because I am not a morning person. I hardly ever wake up early enough to see the sun rise
(5 years and 2982 days ago)ewe! just fricken ewe!
(5 years and 2983 days ago)It seems to be lighter again today from yesterday?
(5 years and 2983 days ago)everything is great except the fingernails. The polish should be solid; this way it looks creepy. sorry
(5 years and 2984 days ago)It would have been good if you would have used a flash. The light source behind them is taking all of the "attention"; there is no light attention being brought upon the statues. Try to use a flash (flash is good even though it may seem like many times you hear it is not)
(5 years and 2984 days ago)I think this is exactly what the suggester probably meant when he/she suggested this contest :_)
(5 years and 2984 days ago)This would probably have been a 1st 2nd or 3rd place had you brought the saturatation and curves/levels up.
(5 years and 2984 days ago)looks much better!
(5 years and 2985 days ago)this is hilarious!!!!! Now everyone knows what Steve would look like if he got a sex change
(5 years and 2985 days ago)much better! can I give one more suggestion though? I would crop this using the rule of thirds. Crop it so that the rock is almost in one of the corners and there is open space on the other corners. This may help you http://www.picturecorrect.com/tips/photography-rule-of-thirds/
(5 years and 2986 days ago)you did such a great job of lining this up! love it.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)just moving the purse from behind this would have made this better....agree with friiskiwi
(5 years and 2987 days ago)beautiful! I love the Evian bottle in the back; it is pretty The lighting in this is great because it is hard to get clear items to show this well on a white background.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)mmmm what kind is it?
(5 years and 2987 days ago)this is a nice change up from the other flower photos on here. Very "wall worthy"
(5 years and 2987 days ago)Is that blue mold? :O
(5 years and 2987 days ago)I was already sick of seeing flowers in this contest, but this one is special. Nice job!
(5 years and 2987 days ago)this photo is very confusing. I would say that this photo would be better suited for an abstract type contest with a bit of adjustments.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)great job. the photo looks crisp, clean and professional.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)If I were you, I'd adjust the saturation on this a tad.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)This would have been an AWESOME shot if it had been sharper.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)I love the way you used the lights and also the reflection!
(5 years and 2987 days ago)this picture seems a bit flat to me. Have you tried adjusting the brightness/contrast, the saturation and/or levels? It would be great if it weren't so dark.
(5 years and 2987 days ago)I think this is a great setup. I'm wondering if it would have faired better if your light on the right would have been a bit more toward the camera? Just a thought...maybe you already tried it and it didn't work though.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)Nice crisp photo! Great job on this.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)where's the drink? I only see a used cup, no beverage.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)my stomach is turning I think this would have been better if you had taken this before you started to drink it because of all the chunks on the side of the cup. I thought that was garlic at first, not olives. Maybe next time, only put a small amount of the bloody mary in the cup, tip it like you did and leave out the olives. THEN drink it. The two colors together look neat though.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)This would have been a much better photo if the subject wasn't blurred.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)I have to agree. This is not inviting because the glass looks dirty and it looks like dirt was thrown into the wine
(5 years and 2988 days ago)I'd drink wine in that....what's the difference really WHAT you drink it from as long as it tasted good.
(5 years and 2988 days ago)agree...I think this could be a great photo if you adjusted/tweaked it just a tad. color balance and curves/levels
(5 years and 2988 days ago)I like this because it is a different type shot than we are used to with dragonflies
(5 years and 2989 days ago)At first when I looked at it, I thought the same thing as MossyB...but the more I look at it with the subject matter, it may actually work. I was thinking black and white might look good too.
(5 years and 2993 days ago)This photo looks really flat as it is. I would try adjusting the "curves' to make this pop a little more.
(5 years and 2993 days ago)congrats Pat! You SO deserved it! Again, I don't know why, but I actually like this one better than the color one for some reason. Great job!
(5 years and 2994 days ago)I will be going to one of these places on the 25th and hopefully dressing up this year and getting hammered! We just need a DD Oh I so can't wait for the turkey legs and the chance to show some cleavage!
(5 years and 2995 days ago)wow, great shot! I didn't know you could use them outside of the magazine if contracted like that. Well the shot CERTAINLY is magazine worthy!
(5 years and 2995 days ago)or kinky people
(5 years and 2995 days ago)I like the whole overall look of this. great job
(5 years and 2995 days ago)very nice! nice amount of color and good composition.
(5 years and 2995 days ago)clever! viewers: see SBS
(5 years and 2996 days ago)thanks for the explanation, but I am really confused still. I see nothing that you say....a needle? You talk about a needle shadow but if it was there and is not now, then you are going against photography rules and guidelines by cutting out things.
(5 years and 2998 days ago)Like I said, I could be totally wrong---which I have in the past---and said sorry before. As the picture is though, it is just hard to believe.
