Yeah...he looks pretty much like him!

The spaghetti is BOH (blow out highlights).
Is when the light on the subject is so strong that you loose detail.
You should try to diffuse the light with a piece of paper in front of the flash or try other angles(to direct the light)
All so the background is not the best choice( is tooo messy).

It's easy dinomario10...
All you have to do is place a piece of paper in front of the cameras lens with a hole in the middle with the shape of a HEART.
Manual focus to " defocus" the subject & here you are!

Flash is not the best choice here (imho)
All so a wider frame would help to include the whole color tube (the yellow one) in to the frame(since this is a set up you should be careful with this "small" details.
Focus is good but a bigger f number would help so you won't have a shallow depth of field(when you take close up shots you should use the highest f number on your camera to achieve the maximum "in focus area" on your subject).
Over all a good attempt!!!!

May be you should take a shot with out the glass & see the difference.

Well...
The emotional part of the shot works for me author(the final act of human self misery) but in the technical part there's some motion blur in high-resolution(because of the difficulty of the shot i guess,low light environment,a self portrait maybe,poor light source).
Over all a very good entry author.

Well...as i see you have a very good camera author.
Focusing on glass is very hard (the older ones,people from pxlshots,might remember a contest called "mirrored mirrors" where most of the entry's where slightly OOF)
If you used auto focus for this shoots then you must reconsider....
Your camera has manual focus so you must try it & i think that you see a big difference.

Artistic is a matter of how everyone see it.
It is not appropriate to call someones work "not artistic (the dog leash was a bad example imho off course),just because you see it that way!
Open your mind people & don't stick to the "exact" word of " swing" by it self.

The main goal is to go find a simple, normal swing and photograph it in an artistic way.

Very nice close up but noise is just too much for my taste...i think you over did it (imho)!
I all so think that you should use a higher f number.That way you would have a "wider" in focus "clear" surface on the pen!
