I used to be amazed by these shots, I thought that to be able to get a shot like this you had to have a ton of training and be a pro. I had no idea it was just a tripod and a slow shutter, and now seeing who this author is I know it doesn't take any talent

Good idea but you need to flip your piper, he is lit from the wrong side compared to the structure lighting. And give him a shadow on the ground as well. Try blurring his edges just a very tiny bit, he looks a little cut out.
