I was a bit surprised to find out that's your work. Yes, still the familiar style but this time I feel something different. In this work you focused more on the composition and lighting, with not much details. All the curves were well done, but the hairs need a bit more works. I don't know if that's your design or not but her bright hand has frog-like shape. It's a gorgeous piece of art indeed! Will be in top place for sure!

The main focus of this image is on the face and you chose the soft, less detail brush for the rest, so if I were you I would draw the hair strands with large, soft brush and not clearly separated as you did. Even though these hairs are still nice, they distract the eyes a bit to the top left corner of the image. Overall, I can see your effort and this portrait has a soul, which is the most important one. Very nice drawing my friend, I can recognize her immediately. The eyes and hairs took you a lot of time, I guess. There are many ways to pain the hairs, maybe you can try, they can reduce the time needed. Also, if you use the realistic approach, some highlights on the skin, mouth, eyes are always good . That's so surprising for me to find your entry here, seems like you worked for that piece a long time and this contest is the perfect place for submitting whatever you like to do . Fav immediately and high marks. But, let me give some strict critiques (even though I consider it's a kind of perfect entry). In perspective, the positions of her legs are not much different (the right one is a bit closer to us) but, to me, their proportions are different considerably, the right boot is quite longer. About Santa's "poster", seems like the piece in her hand is from the one on the wall, but I can't find they're fitted together (just if my presumption is correct). About lighting, definitely you used a complex lighting mode, with the strongest direct light from her back, but the light comes from her front is not very well managed when we consider the shadows. Base on the shadow on the bottom of the picture in her hand, the light comes from her front but lower than her hand, base on the shadow under her skirt, the light come from the position higher than her skirt. So, the front light is from somewhere as high as her belly! From that conclusion, you need more shadows, such as the shadow of the picture on her left arm, some shadows on the other side of the gun, etc. And the most important thing is her second shadow on her back, which is not as dark as the main shadow, but should be more convincing.
Phew, finally I showed you all that I can find here, hope it's not frustrating to you . You'll get one more first place for sure, even among the top work of the site .

Congrats Elke, I missed this contest. You did such a wonderful job, rich in details, and you should get more points for the thought you put in and the research on mandala .

That's cruel! Different sources were brought together quite smoothly and you paid some attentions to the detail such as changing the colors on the house. However, I have some suggestions for you:
1. If you want to focus on the two people and the house, they should be the main objects, so their shapes, colors, etc. should be noticeable compared with the environment. Consider that, the sky and the fire should be more desaturated and brighter in color, you can also blur them slightly to make the better depth (including the road and the hill).
2. Applying the motion blur is a nice touch but your choice of object is not right. The flight is so far away from the ground, so their movement is slow compared to other actions or movements on the ground and close to the camera. The camera has to capture the image within several seconds to see that effect, but in this case, the remaining parts of the image will be overbrighten and almost nothing will be seen. Just apply that filter to something close to the camera and move very fast compared with the others .
3. Let see the shadow of the house, it's sharp, so the shadow of the soldier should be the same .

That's not surprised to me, author, because I also realized that your style is unique and stable through all of your entries. Your ideas behind the entries easily impress people and your execution is clever. As far as this entry is concerned, you achieved your goal for sure. Even though this contest will be full of mermaids, maybe I won't see any spooky mermaid like that again because that's too difficult to compete with you . I just have a suggestion of increasing the brightness of the whole scene for people to appreciate more what you've done. Best of luck to you

I don't see any problem with this entry, your approach is very artistic, I like it . Surrealism is the way to show the world through the eyes of the artists. I immediately though about the agriculture and the connection between the mankind and the nature, we're just living things as the trees or animals. I like the color, the choice of background and the soil-like things flying from the bottom, nice touch. No need to change anything, good luck author

Great work, it took time for me to understand all the messages in this piece. The symbols of horoscope are easily recognized but I didn't think about the months at the first glace (silly me). And then I realized that you indicate the time by the change of the branch through 4 seasons. The four animals were chosen carefully because they belong to 4 domains of animal kingdom: invertebrate, fish, bird, mammal, not mention the mankind (maybe because I'm biologist lol). I just don't understand why you chose skeletons to make the image. Nice card and good luck to you.

That's so interesting to have two entries about the same card in this contest, but the approaches are on the opposite ways, one goes to heaven and one goes to hell, what a coincidence! About this work I love everything from the composition, colors and details, especially the river of zombie. The design of the angel is awesomely cool, I always want to make an angel like that. The words don't work well for me tho, and I think because of the constraint in time you decided to use them. Very nice, and high mark from me!

Wow, the blending is almost perfect! Is he a Satyr? Did he steal .. robots? The good thing about this work is it rises the question in viewer's mind about the story behind. I would use brush with a bit harder and brighter stroke to make the fur on his leg, it still looks quite blurry now. No more nitpick, and high mark from me !
