You say at 1/3 sec? it is hard enough to get focus on something hand held let alone toss it and be able to get your subject (the head) perfect in the middle of the swirl.

Have to agree. Tried to do this tossing my camera. The only way I got similar results was to walk in a circle while holding my camera. Great idea and shot though.

Sorry to say but I don't believe this is the real deal, impossible shot yet really simple to do in Photoshop. The lack of any blurr what so ever in the center is a dead give away!

This photo is more than an image, it's telling a story like most of the images, "blank space" above people has a lot of significance (stillness, rest, silence...) The light from "blank space" has meanings too and it's important to show. All those things convert a photo to a story, and like stories it could be well narrated or bad narrated, in this case, IMHO I think that all makes sense, even the brown color

You could probably lose a little if you desired, but I'm sure you have looked at the image with varying degrees of empty space. I'm with Rob on this one, looks great as is.

I disagree with Mossy, the 'dead space' (as she calls it) is part of a good composition and it brings some rest in a otherwise crowded photo. Me like

Too much dead space at the top, it makes all the people seem really short in the sculpture. A tighter crop would make this a much more powerful image.
