Great job with the kid and I love the poses your models took. As a critique I would have had both burglars dress in plain clothes (the design on your left model's shirt takes away from the scene a bit) and possibly chosen a different location (although the backlit window helps to accentuate the action IMO). All in all though great job and this made me laugh! GL!
(5 years and 3237 days ago)Nice job with the framing and angle on this one; you really captured that "feature film" essence and made this look like a still from a movie rather than a photograph. Great work!
(5 years and 3237 days ago)Excellent shot (with the saber being the obvious focus) and interesting choice of background. It's like he's an urban jedi. :P I like it!
(5 years and 3237 days ago)I was waiting for someone to do this one. :P Great job emulating the lighting used in the original film. Now just be sure to avoid any creepy basements with bloody handprints on the walls...
(5 years and 3238 days ago)Love the clarity and contrast in this one. Almost reminds me of the Kraken's maw. :P Great work, author!
(5 years and 3239 days ago)Excellent colors, yes, but what I like more is the PATTERN the colors create. The warm and cold hues create a visual battle that makes you wonder...is the water hot, or cold? Great work author!
(5 years and 3239 days ago)I'll never look at oranges the same way again. Great work, author, and nice job resisting the urge to center the subject in the frame (sometimes having it off to one side or the other really helps to "make" a photo...as in this example). All the best!
(5 years and 3239 days ago)Excellent contrast (it was a smart move putting the chair against that light wall). Great job!
(5 years and 3239 days ago)I like this picture a lot but I wish it could be displayed in color (the scene is busy enough that, without color, everything kind of runs together and it's hard to distinguish certain shapes). Still, I'm loving the clarity and the tones on the chairs are really nice. Reminds me camping when I was a kid. All the best!
(5 years and 3240 days ago)HO-LY-CRAP! It DOES look like Adam!
(5 years and 3240 days ago)Definite points for humor. Great way to start us off. All the best!
(5 years and 3240 days ago)Great detail on this and I actually really like the orange cast. Also, good job on the DOF. GL!
(5 years and 3241 days ago)I agree with both of the above comments, plus I'll add that the detail in the fibers is stunning. Great job!
(5 years and 3241 days ago)The picture may be a little soft but the subject matter is great and the framing/colors are excellent. Great job!
(5 years and 3241 days ago)MnM, maybe this will clear things up:
(5 years and 3241 days ago)The goal is to take a panorama shot around an object (basically, shoot pictures of every side of your subject in a 360 degree pattern). Using Photoshop you then have to stitch these images together to form one continuous image (which is why we get that long, stretched effect - think of a globe that is cut in half and laid out flat on a table). It creates an interesting look and is very challenging to do from a technical aspect because everything must be done manually (which can take multiple hours - something our friends in the Photoshop contests can chuckle at). :P Hope this helps!
Fantastic use of color and subject matter to tell a story. Excellent work, author.
(5 years and 3241 days ago)Love the pink background (it just seems to go with the picture for some reason). GL!
(5 years and 3241 days ago)Love the DOF on this but it looks a little underexposed. I'd bump up the lights. Still, great job!
(5 years and 3242 days ago)Llasa Apso? I used to have one when I was a kid. Smart as a whip!
(5 years and 3243 days ago)Wow! This is a great shot, author.
(5 years and 3243 days ago)I've always considered watches to be clothing, personally.
(5 years and 3244 days ago)Nice title.
(5 years and 3245 days ago)I saw that before, just wasn't sure if it was the item you were referring to. Lighting does look better now; much less drab than before. Thanks, and all the best!
(5 years and 3245 days ago)I'm loving this one. Great texture, clarity is fantastic, excellent lighting...I dare say this is my favorite entry you've posted, author! Great job!
(5 years and 3245 days ago)I think the term is "Spanglish." :P Great find!
(5 years and 3245 days ago)Nice shot, author, but could you please clarify what doesn't belong? I'm not seeing it. :P Thanks!
(5 years and 3245 days ago)P.S., I would bump up your lights a smidge to give it a bit more contrast. Might make the picture pop more.
Excellent clarity in this one. Only thing that really bugs me is the lamp for some reason (it seems to be on a slant). Still, thats a minor complaint. Great way to kick off the contest!
(5 years and 3246 days ago)Theres a local artist here in Michigan that makes these things (I think his name is "Doc Watson". Very creative and excellent choice for a background. GL!
(5 years and 3246 days ago)Excellent work, author!
(5 years and 3246 days ago)Definitely on theme and great DOF. I'd add a little fill light though; the doll's face is a smidge too dark. Still, great job!
(5 years and 3246 days ago)Great idea! I wish this was allowed to be in selective color; that red is just BEGGING to be isolated. Still, this made me laugh. GL!
(5 years and 3248 days ago)Excellent capture and great DOF. The high res shows a bit of noise though; I'd correct that and resubmit. Even if you don't, this is an awesome picture. GL!
(5 years and 3248 days ago)Nice capture, but theres a little bit of a blue cast to it. I'd color correct it and repost. GL!
(5 years and 3249 days ago)lol I say we get back to the author's picture. Great shades and tones, no highlight clipping, excellent work. Keep it up! (no pun intended)
(5 years and 3250 days ago)Download the free trial of Photoshop (if you don't have it already), then choose Edit>Transform>Rotate. From here you can rotate the image 'til your heart's content. If you are left with little white or transparent areas in the corners (due to the rotation), select the crop tool and crop those lil' buggers out. Hope this helps! All the best!
(5 years and 3250 days ago)And the color adjustment does make the picture look sharper. Good job!
I agree. Most entries that force the viewer to rotate their head don't end up doing so well. She is a very pretty model though and this is a nice shot. GL!
(5 years and 3250 days ago)What solkee said, but I'd also play with the shadows a bit to try and make the snowman less "washed out" looking. Great find!
(5 years and 3250 days ago)Looks a bit like the corridor is leaning to the left. I'd straighten it up a bit and resubmit. GL!
(5 years and 3250 days ago)Creative idea!
(5 years and 3250 days ago)I knew this was you before I even voted. :P Excellent work as always, author. You never cease to impress.
(5 years and 3252 days ago)Great DOF and the addition of the guitar to the shot is very appropriate. I may have adjusted my lighting to reduce glare on the tickets, but that's just personal preference. Great job, author!
(5 years and 3252 days ago)Love the scenery; it reminds me of the days I'd spend at a cabin up north when I was a kid. Great job!
(5 years and 3253 days ago)Ahhh...I should have known it was you.
(5 years and 3253 days ago)Excellent capture. The right side of the screen is kind of washed out (near the "vision express" building) but other than that this is a crisp, clean and awesome picture. Good luck, author!
(5 years and 3253 days ago)There goes Mickey, showing off his trophy wife. You ever get the feeling he has something else going on the side?
(5 years and 3253 days ago)All kidding aside, great idea for this contest. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. Good luck!
While I agree that this would look great in black and white, I'd hate to lose those ruby red lips. To me, that is Marilyn's most iconic feature. Now if selective coloring were allowed...oh, the possibilities! Great shot.
(5 years and 3253 days ago)SO cute! Great capture, author, and nice DOF.
(5 years and 3253 days ago)Great shot, but it looks like your picture is leaning slightly to the right. I'd rotate it so that picture lays "flat" and the entryway is perfectly vertical. Good luck!
(5 years and 3253 days ago)I like how you chose to incorporate your background into this image. Most people on this site (myself included) who shoot low key tend to darken the entire backdrop out and only show the subject. Its nice to see something done differently and, most important, done well. All the best!
(5 years and 3253 days ago)Great capture, saturation, framing, subject...hell, this is just great. GL!
