I agree with Friiskiwi in that I wasn't sure how this fit the theme at first. After reading your description and realizing that the insect has lost 3 legs I feel that it IS on topic...but just barely. Still, the quality of the picture is top notch! All the best.
(5 years and 3261 days ago)Great capture! I love the mountains in the background, but I wish we could see more of the car. Still, I think this is one of my favorite works of yours, author.
(5 years and 3261 days ago)Great use of shadows! Love that your model is crouched in the corner, as if the world has beaten him down and he is just trying to deflect the pain. Only criticism is I would have rolled his left sleeve down below his elbow (as on his right arm). Still, love it!
(5 years and 3261 days ago)P.S., totally knew it was you. :P
I agree completely with friiskiwi, this is a great pan. Excelent DOP and great choice in not centering your model in the frame (gives you the impression that she is on a long journey). GL!
(5 years and 3261 days ago)While I agree that this is a very clean picture and the subject matter is very appropriate I think that there is too much going on. My eye wants to move towards the woman, but at the same time it keeps getting drawn in to the pirate flag due to the various pointing devices (the pole in her hand, the ropes attached to the sail, etc.). The coloring of the building in the background is also somewhat distracting as it too closely resembles her flesh tone.
(5 years and 3261 days ago)An easy solution would be to simply crop it in tighter, thus eliminating the flag and the majority of the building in the background.
Still, as it stands this is a very nice piece. I love the emotion you get from the woman and the title fits her very well. GL!
Great DOP on this one. Love the bristly texture of the mat as well. I'd suggest either cropping out the bottom of the window/door or reshooting against a different background. Hope this helps! GL
(5 years and 3261 days ago)Excellent costume and use of negative space in this one! The picture is a little pixelated though. Do you have a better quality version that you can upload? If not, try softening it up a bit (but not too much!) to hide some of the pixelation. All the best!
(5 years and 3261 days ago)While I agree with Karaflazz about the model's attire not fitting Marilyn exactly, it could also symbolize the dark side of Ms. Monroe that was kept out of the public's eye. It could also be a more modern interpretation of what Marilyn would be like were she alive in today's world. Still, I gotta say I concur fully about the arm; it does not flatter her.
(5 years and 3261 days ago)That said, I think your use of the leopard print bedspread and champagne glass really work with this piece. The tones are well developed and I don't notice any highlight clipping at all (a challenge with such a pale skinned model). Very nice work, author!
Your eyes looking offscreen really adds depth and character to this photo. Excellent use of tones as well. Great job.
(5 years and 3261 days ago)One of the best pics I've seen you do, author. Very nicely done!
(5 years and 3263 days ago)You never cease to impress me. Nice work!
(5 years and 3263 days ago)I think you mean "I'm staring out..." :P Awesome pic as always, though! Love the tones in your model's face.
(5 years and 3263 days ago)Excellent capture. Any chance we can see a high res?
(5 years and 3268 days ago)Excellent composition and I love the color in this one. Its a little soft, but other than that nicely done.
(5 years and 3268 days ago)I used to own a baby red tail boa. Very tame; never once bit me. He DID try to escape from his tank every night, though. I shoulda named him Brain.
(5 years and 3289 days ago)In any event, nice picture!
Great shot! I would have upped the saturation a tiny bit, but still awesome nonetheless.
(5 years and 3302 days ago)Great work as always.
(5 years and 3302 days ago)Whats even funnier is the font they used to typeset this ("Chiller". Very well executed and great composition, especially with the lighting.
(5 years and 3317 days ago)Creative idea. My only suggestion would have been to replace the bottom cookie with one that is less jagged/frazzled around the edges. Even so, I love it. Nice work!
(5 years and 3317 days ago)Love the angle! Its a little soft and noisy (even for an HDR image) but still an excellent piece.
(5 years and 3317 days ago)Grats on first!
(5 years and 3319 days ago)Great tones on this one. Love the completely dropped out background. Awesome work, as usual.
(5 years and 3323 days ago)I think locks has been watching too much "Dexter"...but GREAT SHOT author. Very nice detail and intriguing subject matter.
(5 years and 3331 days ago)Very nice composition.
(5 years and 3362 days ago)Love the angles on this one. GL!
(5 years and 3362 days ago)Nice job, but isn't "Itt" the hairy cousin of the Adams Family? I thought the hand was named "Thing".
(5 years and 3402 days ago)Excellent shot! And we have yet to see clarification as to whether or not the overflowing object must include liquid, so until we here otherwise I consider this to be on theme. GL!
(5 years and 3426 days ago)Congrats!
(5 years and 3468 days ago)Grats!
(5 years and 3468 days ago)Grats!
(5 years and 3475 days ago)I REALLY like this shot. Great job, author.
(5 years and 3476 days ago)I'd LOVE to try that. Jellyfish salad? Heck ya. :P
(5 years and 3476 days ago)I agree with ade. This certainly looks like a circular ceiling to me. Nice find, author. I'm curious to see how this would look in black and white.
(5 years and 3477 days ago)I absolutely love the humorous take on this. And mechs are awesome. GL!
(5 years and 3487 days ago)Absolutely gorgeous shot. Perfect choice of color and the angle is top notch. GL!
(5 years and 3487 days ago)I expected as much. Fantastic shot, author! (although to nitpick, you may want to run some noise reduction on the limes' shadows. Other than that this is as close to perfection as you can get).
(5 years and 3488 days ago)Lovely shot but can we get a hi res pretty please?
(5 years and 3492 days ago)I can see the improvement. Best of luck!
(5 years and 3501 days ago)Now THIS is what I had in mind when I suggested the contest. Excellent work, author!
(5 years and 3501 days ago)Love the subject but I think it might be a little TOO dark. Try adding a bit of fill light to the shot (but not too much!) or reshooting with the hair light brought in a little closer. GL!
(5 years and 3501 days ago)And people wonder why I have low self esteem. :P
(5 years and 3501 days ago)lol I was gonna shoot something similar. I guess great minds think alike. Well done!
(5 years and 3503 days ago)Grats on first!
(5 years and 3503 days ago)Right on topic! Any chance of uploading a high res though? Great shot!
(5 years and 3505 days ago)Very moody! A bit undersaturated, but still a nice capture.
(5 years and 3505 days ago)Gorgeous shot, author. Love the detail in this one. GL!
(5 years and 3508 days ago)Excellent as always, author. GL!
(5 years and 3508 days ago)Mindblowing as always (and excellent title). GL!
(5 years and 3509 days ago)Grats on first!
(5 years and 3510 days ago)Nice construction! I don't have the talent for that. GL!
