Cute idea, but there it feels like this entry is only half done. Great job of cropping the burger out, though (it looks very clean). I'd adjust the shading and lighting on the burger to make it seem less "plopped" into the picture and more like a part of the image. Also, the dog isn't looking at the burger! Must not be very hungry. I'd adjust his/her gaze so that he is infatuated with the tasty treat that has been set before him (pretty simple to do through use of masking, liquify, clone/stamp, etc.). All in all a great idea! It just needs a little spit polish. Don't give up!

Nicely done. Having the parrot chew on the bar is a nice touch (macaws do that stuff ALL the time). I especially like the foliage surrounding the cage.

I think the shadow spot on the top of the bun may be a bit too dark. Also, what are all those pointy objects in the background? They look like knives but I'm not quite sure. In any event, this piece has class and scifi written all over it. Very nice work, and best of luck!

Reminds me of Frylock. I like the creative approach you took to this project and the face is very well thought out. The only thing I would change is the background; It seems a little plain when compared to your central focus image. Still, great job!

This is an excellent piece of artwork. Scales never looked this good. Might want to add some more explosions in background to truly create a sense of battle but that is just personal taste and will not affect your score. I LOVE this entry!

Excellent creativity and great implementation. I can tell this took you a long time to finish. That being said, I'd ditch the green "nose tubes". They don't seem to go well with the image and, to be honest, I think the piece would be more powerful without them. Regardless, great job!

Extra points for humor. Some of the nuns look as if they are stretched a bit too much, though. I'd fix that and resubmit. Otherwise, great job!

I really enjoy this piece. The perfect hybrid of photograph and exaggeration. I to would like to see the source image, but nonetheless I feel this is a very strong piece.

I'd like to add that the shadow our burger buddy is casting probably doesn't need a stroke on it (thin as it may be). Still, this piece made me laugh! Nice job.

I...love this. I absolutely love this. Great job, author! ...truth be told, though, thats my cousin's hat. I couldn't resist trying it on for a photo. Still, I'm flattered!

I love the robot burger! Not sure if it's twin/reflection is necessary, though. As Golem said, maybe a baby burger (like a slider!) looking up at him would work a little better. Still, nice work author!

I HOPE I don't have any piggish-qualities! Overall this made me laugh, but I agree with Golem that more depth would be an enhancement to the image. Pigs ARE generally depicted as fat and clunky, so if thats the theme you are going for you should feel free to "chunk me up". I DO like what you've done though (even if I don't quite understand it). Nice work!

You put a lot of time and effort into this and it shows. The bike and gun in particular stand out to me. I also love the emotion you display in the red character's face. As a critique, I'd probably work towards gaining that same intensity in the other characters. The green girl, for example, looks dazed and the girl riding the cycle seems somewhat deadpan. Other than that, though, this is a great piece of work.

Very nice entry. As Alan said, your blending of source files is top notch. I really can't find anything I'd change with this one. Nice work!

Excellent use of the source file to create this crossbow. I'm not sure if I like the golden plaque it is hanging on (maybe more of a bronze/brownish color?) but your manipulaton of the photo is top notch. Also, just to nitpick, why is the crossbow hanging on a brick wall? I think the image would be more effective if you placed it on an ordinary living room wall (with maybe a hint of a fireplace/mantle poking out from the bottom). In any event, I love this work and wish you the best!

I like the idea of a magic balanced scale, but I feel like you could do better in the execution. A simple rainbow gradient overtop of the scale is a pretty basic design element and I'd love to see you expand on this. Sticking with the magic theme, maybe you could place a top hat on one of the scales or even turn the base of the unit into the classic "sawing a woman in half" illusion. There are endless possibilities with this one...you just need to let loose and go crazy with your imagination! Best of luck, and keep at it!

Magic Balanced Scale
avatar magicsteve

While this is a very creative use of the source file, I'm not quite sure it works. The star pattern you used throughout the image feels tacked on and unnecessary, and the majority of your snow looks like it was simply painted in with a hard brush and left alone. Still, don't give up! With a little more time put into this I bet you can make something anyone would be proud to hang in their home!

Very nice concept (gives me an "Alice in Wonderland" vibe). The bottom of the lady holding the scales should probably be shaded a bit more to blend it into the picture. As of right now it looks like she's just hovering there in midair. Regardless, awesome job!

This really is an amazing work. To think that you pulled this from that little street sign is just mind boggling. I love the colors and textures that you used on the creature as well. If I had to nitpick, I'd say lose the outer glow on the creature and lose the staff entirely. Sometimes less is more, and I feel that you don't really need either of those two elements. If you keep the staff, though, I'd at least fix the cap at the bottom of the shaft. It blends in with the creature's tail a bit too much and, until I viewed the hi res, I didn't even know it was part of the staff. Anyway, awesome!

I love the perspective and lighting effects done on the mask (and necklace, for that matter). The only negative I see is that the well defined and detailed masks conflict with your less detailed art style. Glim's body, for instance, does not seem to be attached to his/her head. Rather, the mask almost seems to float in the air. Still, the artwork is nice and I really enjoyed this piece. Rock on.

I think what you've done here is very nice. It creates a dark, sinister mood and the smiling of the mask just heightens that. As an image, I love it. As a submission, though, I feel that it may be a bit too simple. Don't give up, though! Maybe if you expanded on this dark theme you've created we could see something truly extraordinary! Best of luck.

EXCELLENT work. Love the contrast of hopeful and hopelessness (the hint of blue sky within the dreary clouds really sells this, along with the angels). The only critique I can see is that the tower looks just a little bit sharper than the rest of the image. Nothing a slight Gaussian Blur can't fix.

I love the foliage covering his man parts. Should have added a humor bar for voting! I do agree with everyone else, though. Either put the metal pole back in or adjust his position so that he is standing ON the platform...unless this is supposed to be a David Blaine mannequin. :P

Love the paint job, but it took me a minute to realize that the feathery things on the right side of the image were wings. Maybe some different lighting would clear this up? Nice job!

Very well done. I especially like the time and attention that was paid to the little boy in the picture. The only change would make would be to extend the "grass" a bit so you didn't have that black gap on the left edge of the picture. Other than that, it's amazing.
