Personally i think that even thought there is a difference in resolution, does it really matter? it's hard enough finding the sources you want without having to worry about something as small as RESOLUTION! This image is excellent, the author obviously worked hard with a great idea he had, so i think we ought to just leave it at that.

I agree with Pixelkid, try to take more time to make little adjustment that will make the image much more convincing. I personally think the fur is over-liquified or smudged... but i don;t know what alternatives to suggest, perhaps motion blur or Filter-Stylize-Wind. As pixelkid says, you have all week to try out lots of different things.

The perspective of the house seems a bit strange, and the fence itself looks a tad too thick.. but good idea. I like the use of the original background for the sky.

you found a great source, my suggestion is to try to make the horses all the same color, so slightly more brown with less contrast might make him fit in very well.

Nice image, the blood seems unconvincing.. perhaps a darker shade of red with a darker shine.
