Nice idea but i agree with CMYK. You could of just cut out the elephants and pasted them reversed, if you didnt have the PSD.

Very nice colors! High resolution would really help for details! And you could try to add some light source (maybe from the moon)! I would personally pick the left side to add the source light and then add some really soft light beams (gaussian blur and lower opacity) coming onto the land and little cottage's left side. This would really give your image a focus point and light up some of the rock and house details! Best of luck!

Love the message you are going for and I agree with Golum about not really "getting it" until you read your description...IMO I would show somehow that what looks to be "candy" is just the opposite it's POISON and I don't think that is coming across..Keep working it and Good Luck

the emptiness of the center really does make the point... AFTER you've read the description.. with the description it works.. with out it.. I thought the was a baby picture frame (sorry) my only suggestion if you changed the espression on the face to look into the dead space with an air of longing that would make the description unnecessary.. but that's just me.. LOL. this is your vision author (I do hear the piece quite well now)

this would look much better if you used a water splash (like surface and underwater) used that to separate the mountains with a coral shot underwater (real simple, desaturate the splash layer and set to screen... it eleminates all the black, you dont want black to show with water effects.) hope that helps. mask out the mountains and the coral shot so that they meet at the line where the splash is. real simple.
