It's a weird coincidence and I had to laugh, but did anyone else notice where the sign on the post pointing to the town of "Brest" was pointing?
(5 years and 2908 days ago)BTW congrats on an excellent entry
I like the story here... doesn't even look like a montage
(5 years and 2912 days ago)Nice image, take it a step further by brightening the fringes of the figure even more than you've already done to give more of an impression that the main source of light is coming from behind ...
(5 years and 2912 days ago)An excellent piece of work. However I do find it hard to recognize that flying creature as an actual living being. Realize this is a fantasy scene so there'd be nothing wrong with emphasizing details such as its eyes and other features to make it look more like a living creature and less like a flying carpet. The gradient from blue to violet is a bit abrupt also. Having said all that, this has a whole lot going for it anyway.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)For a digital painting, this is very nice. I suppose artistic license in the scewed perspective is allowed.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)comment #2
Very well done. To make it even better, you should greatly brighten the light trails. If you refer to actual photos of this type, you'd see how bright those kinds of trails are.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)Either it's a magic TV or that kid's got a wild imagination. Great idea. Kind of wondering why you've placed a copy of the wall art on the coffee table, it adds something somehow ... just don't know what. Nice work.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)Excellent work, nice color saturation for the "model effect". The soldiers still look like they're floating though, the ones aiming their rifles from up the hill, the soldiers on the level mown grass look solidly planted. One fix might be to add overlapping vegetation around their bases to give the illusion of touching the ground. Still, this one's my favourite.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)Tons of work to build this one, and pretty well done too. Except for that one clump of trees near the centre looks like the cloning is too regular, not much else wrong with this one.
(5 years and 2912 days ago)Crows don't seem too scared, either they are in awe of the entertainment or they are worshiping. Good color, cheerful. Crows could be blended in a bit better though, they look pasted in.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)Great composition in this one - and a story in it (always bonus to have a story in a picture) as well. Especially like the expressions on their faces, the lighting, the way the drinks are presented, etc. If I were to give you one suggestion, that's to shift the composition to the right to reduce the size of the big dark area on the right and prevent the little scarecrow's "fingers" from just touching the left edge of the picture. Excellent otherwise.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)If anything, just make the crow's foot more visible because that adds a bit of 'evil' to the overall intent in the crow's expression. The scarecrow's expression (and of course the irony of it!) are priceless too. Excellent work.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)This entry could probably earn you income in print sales if you had a high enough resolution image.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)imaginative, add shadows against the bare skin for depth, you did, after all, place shadow under the head
(5 years and 2919 days ago)where did his clothes go ... oh, nevermind, I see them. More contrast would help to make them easier to see
(5 years and 2919 days ago)I faved this one for the sense of humor and the near flawlessness - now why are the thumbs bigger than the fingers and the legs smaller than the arms?
(5 years and 2919 days ago)Another case of a really good composition and idea, needing a few tweaks to take it to a whole other couple of levels: arm is a bit too "cartoony" compared to the rest of the image (needs something like the specular hilites that are present in the face), the blurry top edge of the sunglasses don't match the sharp bottom edge, the character's mohawk kind of ends abruptly in a squared off angle at the very top of his head ... I'll shut up now.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)Really good idea, beautiful colours! However the honey flowing over her shoulder looks like it's just sprayed on colour (blurry edges)
(5 years and 2919 days ago)In school, I was told to always find something good about an entry and also something that could be improved and sometimes that is hard to do. In this case it is really hard but I do see something minor. Author, this is technically close to perfect in my opinion but to really make it over the top I'd suggest adding a bit of dripping honey coming off the very bottom "thingy" (whatever this thingy is called). Otherwise, I think I want to frame this one but there's no Hi-res (?!)
(5 years and 2919 days ago)A fun image, colourful and fun - you forgot to give a blur to the cloud on the right, at least a little bit of a blur (it is, after all, a cloud) and just so the near cloud looks nearer and the far cloud farther, you'd have to blur the far cloud a bit more -- am I being too fussy? Maybe -- this entry has "heart"
(5 years and 2919 days ago)actually not bad ... everything looks shiny and gooey like the honey it comes from ... except the eyes and nose which look added in as an afterthought
(5 years and 2919 days ago)easily my favourite, wish I could point something out to improve on but I can't seem to ... wait, I foundsomething ... the pavement seems more blurry than the adjacent grass in many places! That's an easy (and minor, if even necessary) fix
(5 years and 2919 days ago)good idea - the actual buildings look pasted on though - suggest slightly blurring edges, adding strategic shadows, and unifying the colours a bit (making the brown in the stone walls a bit greener)
(5 years and 2919 days ago)good idea but could be easily improved just by brightening the whole image, unless it's dark for a reason ... in which case you could improve it by making each "house" a bit different from the others besides just changing the colours ... unless that was also done on purpose ...
(5 years and 2919 days ago)this one's a joy to look at - nice colours! and lots to see
(5 years and 2919 days ago)This must have taken some time, the results show it.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)That one balloon that's exactly centered behind that tower is a distraction from an otherwise great piece of work.
Cool looking elements and great idea!
(5 years and 2919 days ago)A bit busy in my opinion but it seems that could be improved by unifying the composition with more harmonious colour
... the snake-like building on the right is cutting through the top cloud a bit too sharply compared to the way the clouds are behaving around all the other buildings
I agree, and I have to pick on something because I am very picky, and the only thing I can come up with is the the character's could be a bit brighter (imo)
(5 years and 2919 days ago)A bit of a surreal look here, and the jet contrails in the sky are a nice touch even if it might be accidental - overall nice effect. If that's the sun setting in the background, maybe you could have made it a bit more orange and then fixed the way the light affects the gourd on the left - right now it seems that "something" is brightening the front of the "house" on the left. Or ... maybe I'm just too fussy?
(5 years and 2919 days ago)It took a while but I finally saw the images in the girl's shirt, in the egg and in the background, nicely done. I especially like the reflected light off the egg. The edge of the shirt collar on the left is a bit too blurry though.
(5 years and 2919 days ago)the montage is very well put together - no hard edges, everything looks like it fits together - but it's really busy in there... even by just using one mushroom would have improved things
(5 years and 2923 days ago)Professional quality ... but if I was a paying client (and they can be wrong but they are always "right" I'd ask for the cards to be a touch lighter. Not only to add a bit of contrast but also because reflected light bouncing off them adds depth -- imo
(5 years and 2923 days ago)this one had potential, but what was said before I'd only be repeating...
(5 years and 2923 days ago)I like the dark creepy feel to it and the way the characters are stretched out like you did, even the way the hand comes out to 'restrain' the cat... but the feet are missing - maybe some furniture or other "obstacle" in front of her, like a low table with those objects sitting on it?
(5 years and 2923 days ago)spiders are my favourite people
(5 years and 2925 days ago)I have to agree with CMYK46, step 3 has the look that could have been preserved in the 4th step if you'd have wanted to have the smoke trail spiral around like you did -- still, this is a great composition
(5 years and 2926 days ago)I agree, well done both technically and with imagination and humor
(5 years and 2926 days ago)like a dream (nightmare?) someone could have -- like the "feel" and the color
(5 years and 2926 days ago)I second all the comments so far -- just a suggestion for a small improvement: the horn on the right is touching the border - an easy fix - excellent otherwise
(5 years and 2927 days ago)spooky - excellently done - nice tonal range - good color
(5 years and 2927 days ago)great idea and well done overall, the angle the ropes/wires make seems a bit off and the skin (imho) should be pulled more, but that's just me --
(5 years and 2927 days ago)good use of color -
(5 years and 2927 days ago)excellent work, the front fenders though are conspicuously smooth, still a very nice job
(5 years and 2927 days ago)very nice, and imaginative use of stitching, and zipper
(5 years and 2927 days ago)truly expert work - background fits, the fallen leaves on the hood ...
(5 years and 2927 days ago)I especially like how the image is so hard to find, very nice
(5 years and 2927 days ago)clever, especially the flowers
(5 years and 2927 days ago)nicely done except the stars could have maybe be a little bit more defined so that it doesn't look so much like smoke
(5 years and 2927 days ago)nice work -- (lots of work!)
(5 years and 2927 days ago)funny and colorful, very well done technically too
(5 years and 2935 days ago)
