I think that face is really funny.
(5 years and 629 days ago)A fun chop.
That brain in the bottle is a bit scary. I think when the lab assistants arrive to collect the bottle, it might have escaped since it looks to me like the crab is running away with the lab bottle balanced on his back. The crab must not want them to experiment on that brain.
(5 years and 629 days ago)A very nice warp of the bottle and a good zoom effect on the tail. I just wonder what will explode out of it when it lands? Is it a huge water bomb to water the ground or some poisionous gas to kill everyone?
(5 years and 629 days ago)You did a good job of putting the water scene inside the bottle but I think the water color looks all wrong unless it has food coloring in it?
(5 years and 629 days ago)Google "water in a bottle on sand" and look at the photos in Google images. Notice how the color of the water in those reference bottles reflect the color of the sand and whatever else is behind it?
I know there are a few photoshop tutorials which show blue water in bottles on yellowish sand but in my opinion the colors still look wrong. However, it depends on whether you want realistic color reflections in the water or something more surreal and artistic. In the end, it's obviously your personal preference that matters. The chop is great. It's only the water color that annoys me personally.
Good job of putting the animal in the water but you forgot to make the color of the bottle at the bottom the same brownish color as the water. I still see the blue reflections from the original source at the very bottom. I also think the bottom glass highlight needs to be darker to stop the bottle looking like it's floating. I think the harsh contrast between that bottom shadow and glass is causing the floating effect.
(5 years and 629 days ago)Well done. The only thing I would get rid of is the highlight on the bottom lip. It would be in shadow with the arm coming out of the mouth.
(5 years and 634 days ago)I am curious to know how the lady managed to get into that seat. I can't see a way in or out. She is trapped. :-0
(5 years and 657 days ago)Congratulations.
(5 years and 733 days ago)Congratulations.
(5 years and 733 days ago)Lovely work. I like the flaming font effect very much.
(5 years and 733 days ago)Congratulations
(5 years and 733 days ago)Congratulations Sylvie.
(5 years and 733 days ago)Congratulations. Superb work.
(5 years and 740 days ago)Very creative abstract art.
(5 years and 744 days ago)Looks great.
(5 years and 753 days ago)By the way, I looked at the high res version regarding the stones which the BBQ and letterbox are standing on and I personally don't think it is the color which is making them stand out more. I think it is the sharpness of the stones. Try softening them down a bit to match the sharpness of the grass. A slight surface blur should do it if you want to perfect it more. Otherwise it's perfectly fine just as it is.
(5 years and 754 days ago)Excellent work. You certainly set a high standard for us to try to follow.
(5 years and 754 days ago)I think its hilarious that you made the source police check all those sources and especially funny that one went searching for the fly before checking the SBS. I agree with you about it being a pain to list all the sources but it must be worse for the people who need to check all sources on all entries and see how they were used in the work. It's not something I would volunteer to do unless I had nothing better to do.
I think there would be more entries in these contests if people didn't need to list sources. It takes a lot of time to make large lists like yours as well as a detailed SBS and not everyone has that much spare time. That is most likely why we get very few entries which are so detailed with so many sources.
Congratulations on 4th Sylvie. It's my favorite out of all your entries.
(5 years and 754 days ago)Congratulations lchappell.
(5 years and 754 days ago)Congratulations BWR
(5 years and 754 days ago)Congratulations Sylvie.
(5 years and 754 days ago)Congratulations BWR
(5 years and 754 days ago)You won anyway so it would have made no difference except you might have got an even higher score than you did. 60% always looks so much better than 59.9.
(5 years and 761 days ago)Congratulations Sylvie. Very nicely done.
(5 years and 761 days ago)Congratulations BWR. I like the one you did with the tail fin better though.
(5 years and 761 days ago)Congratulations Sylvie. It tells a very heart wrenching story.
(5 years and 768 days ago)Congratulations. One of my favourites too.
(5 years and 775 days ago)Congratulations.
(5 years and 775 days ago)Congratulations.
(5 years and 775 days ago)Congratulations on 3rd and 4th.
(5 years and 775 days ago)Congratulations. Well deserved.
(5 years and 775 days ago)Great idea to put the sunset scene in the windows. I think it looks a lot better without the harsh light on the floor. Well done.
(5 years and 779 days ago)Yes it could be an afternoon nap for a child but the contest title specially implies that we should make a night scene. Personally I would blacken the windows, clone the harsh light off the floor, and turn on the ceiling light with a dim night light. The lamp shade would cast some eerie lights and shadows around the room because of the pattern on it. You could have fun painting in lights and shadows where you want them and still make your wall pictures brighter. However, it's only a suggestion. I'm just letting you know what I thought of when I saw the scene. In the end you need to follow your own imagination. Keep up the good work.
(5 years and 780 days ago)I would be traumatized for life too if I had those pictures hanging on my walls.
(5 years and 781 days ago)It's good work but I think you need to make it look more like a night scene. It still looks like day to me. The challenge title is "Scared At Night"
Nice work of the outdoor night scene but the moon needs to be brighter if it is supposed to be causing the highlights on the sleeping girl and the light coming through the curtain. A bit of backlight on the monsters would also be good.
(5 years and 782 days ago)That looks like someones worst nightmare. Great work.
(5 years and 782 days ago)Great scary scene but where is the "someone" being scared?
(5 years and 782 days ago)In that case I would hide in a reinforced concrete building.
(5 years and 782 days ago)Now that's one ant I never wish to meet. I hope they have some ant poison on the boat.
(5 years and 784 days ago)The giant shell looks like a fun place for kids to climb and explore. The scene tells a good story. The mother appears to be worried about the danger of her child climbing on it and beckoning the kid to come down.
(5 years and 784 days ago)In my opinion, the cracked ground texture in the sky looks out of place though.
I suggest using an old torn photo or crumpled paper texture instead.
Great job on the chop. I would feel safer inside a car though. I think they would be more likely to get caught and eaten trying to run away.
(5 years and 784 days ago)Now that's scary. Don't go near the door or you might get eaten.
(5 years and 784 days ago)I like the way the kittens eyes match the color of the glass.
How did the kingfisher manage to carry giant soap? It's a mystery for sure.
(5 years and 784 days ago)A truck load of giant berries is a delicious fantasy.
(5 years and 784 days ago)I agree with BWR about the positioning of the berries though.
Congratulations for 1st and 2nd Sylvie. You are very good at these night to day challenges.
(5 years and 789 days ago)Both versions look good to me. The only thing that confuses me is the octopus.
(5 years and 795 days ago)Is she is eating it or it is supposed to be part of her face?
Congratulations Sylvie.
(5 years and 796 days ago)Excellent work.
(5 years and 798 days ago)Very creepy looking. It looks like it could be a horror movie poster. It makes me wonder who or what she is going to chop up for lunch. Well done. Maybe just add a bit of back light on the girl so it looks like the moonlight is shining on her back like in the tutorial? It will make her stand out a bit more.
(5 years and 801 days ago)Beautiful. I specially like the colorizing of the middle portrait.
