A very nice no-nonsense photograph with good range of tones, contrast and white to black. Tight crop helps to pull the viewer into the image and focus on the driver. A bit more emotion from the driver would have been nice but sometimes it is just what it is...next time yell out hello to the fella then there would be more communication between subject and us viewers. Still, a great shot.
(5 years and 368 days ago)Oh my, this looks so good in monochrome. I am wondering if you perchance put a slight selenium tint on this without realizing it? You do have a bluish halo on the tower. I love the fact that there is a human in the doorway in the far distance. Your pov is great giving good lead lines. This photo almost looks edible....delicious visually!
(5 years and 368 days ago)Congrats Sylvie !
(5 years and 369 days ago)Congrats Sylvie!
(5 years and 369 days ago)Well deserved, Fred. YIKES I just noticed ISO of 4,000 you are shooting with a Sony 7! wonderful camera.
(5 years and 369 days ago)Congrats!
(5 years and 369 days ago)Nice to see you back on the site.
(5 years and 372 days ago)Self timer, huh?! I looked at this on high res and it really is a very powerful image that clearly shows the topic of book(s). You worked had at arranging this just so and it shows, for this creativity your image is top of the shelf. Just great and gave me my morning smile.
(5 years and 374 days ago)Ha, good eyes you have but the ant needs to be sharper than you have, don't you think?
(5 years and 375 days ago)You have some dust spots on your sensor, image is soft with colour cast and the drape takes our attention away from the main focal point. The story is strong and tells us how books are valued in this home.
(5 years and 375 days ago)Solid presentation, sharp, good tonal values good marginal space all around.
(5 years and 375 days ago)Oh my, these feel precious and the script is Latin isn't it? The colour palette is perfect with opposing colours of yellow and purple. Why oh why did you nip off the edge of that one book???...overall I enjoyed finding this upload and it makes me want to know more.
(5 years and 375 days ago)I like the solid feel to this presentation and your title is great. I would not have minded a bit more at the bottom...showing the shelf. Nice tonal contrasts shown here.
(5 years and 375 days ago)I think you may have a colour cast on this. Did you try to eliminate that, yes it would be allowed in contest rules as that action affects the entire image. Just a suggestion!
(5 years and 375 days ago)Feels welcoming, I wouldn't mind living here at all.
(5 years and 375 days ago)Lovely and clean...like it.
(5 years and 375 days ago)Love it, feels like this is underneath my skin....ewwwww.
(5 years and 375 days ago)Super professional quality. Top notch and hits the funny bone too!
(5 years and 375 days ago)WOW blue water, did you throw in the blue dye? Very serene and picturesque.
(5 years and 376 days ago)CONGRATS photo nut! Reminded me of Canada this photo.
(5 years and 376 days ago)30 times.....ha ha ha....it was well worth it! CONGRATS
(5 years and 376 days ago)a tighter crop would render it sharp...all around.
(5 years and 377 days ago)Fred, it has a vignetted blur, was that your intention?
(5 years and 377 days ago)Mysterious mood...great atmospheric presentation....good shadow light manipulation.
(5 years and 378 days ago)Nice in b/w. Try high pass filter to sharpen.
(5 years and 378 days ago)Love it....creative and well done.
(5 years and 378 days ago)very nice natural feel to this post.
(5 years and 378 days ago)Cliche but well done and no dust spots on the sky. Nice one.
(5 years and 380 days ago)An empty path but the sign hold the visual weight !
(5 years and 381 days ago)Love the mood and atmosphere of this image. It reminds me of "home". Well composed and cropped. Good entry with broad gray tonality which makes your image sparkle.
(5 years and 381 days ago)A strong gray bias and lovely story.
(5 years and 381 days ago)I am drawn to the very realistic colour palette which makes me feel cold. It is a cold miserable day and your image gets that across. Sharp in high res. Nice one.
(5 years and 381 days ago)Hey, I was here....I'm sure of it. Image is not in focus although it does look better in high resolution. A colourful autumnal path that stills the beating of my heart.
(5 years and 381 days ago)Nice shot "Supergold". Good you have one tulip if perfect focus. Naughty tulip peeking head into frame makes me smile.
(5 years and 381 days ago)The glare of the white in the right side of the image steals the show. A bit more detail on the main focal point would have worked. Your image has a nice story and the title marries well with your shot.
(5 years and 381 days ago)She is soft and the blonde hair behind her detracts. Remember in photography 101 when the teacher used to tell you be careful when you shoot because you are shooting the background too, make it count. I like that this is a predator prey image.
(5 years and 381 days ago)I like how you caught her in 'action' and that she is oblivious to your lens. I do not mind that you cropped her hat out of the frame because the focus is on the intensity on her face. The bokeh is really diffused, had the dof been a bit different to include more detail the feeling would have been richer with a "happening" and "crowds".
(5 years and 381 days ago)Love the glow
(5 years and 382 days ago)Gorgeous...top notch. Congrats.
(5 years and 382 days ago)Ahhh we all have days like that.
(5 years and 382 days ago)never stop ....never ever.
(5 years and 382 days ago)Hi,
(5 years and 382 days ago)Here are my few thoughts on your image and post processing.
You mention that you wanted to achieve a silhouette against a nice sunset and you succeeded.
The time for silhouettes is morning light or setting sun light. You did a good job of cloning out the shadows that your hood created, however, it gave a vignette type of look which wasn’t all that bad but it wasn’t what you were gunning for.
The clone job nicely done, although you have some still showing through. If you try varying opacity layers as you clone you can further eliminate that without the telltale signs of cloning showing through.
Horizon is now straight. Details in shadows are more easily recovered when an image is underexposed, so when in doubt shoot underexposed rather than over. RAW or not RAW.
I like your image because the silhouette gives emotion or rather mood…you are a romantic at heart. Overall the image is a bit busy, following the KISS principle seems to work better for silhouettes…a strong dark focal point…uncluttered. My two cents worth.
Ewww what a horrible picture well taken, blech. You most certainly will get an emotional yank with this picture. Showing dof well with good focus on one of the flies.
(5 years and 382 days ago)Great Tequila still life! YUM
(5 years and 382 days ago)Nicely set up with consideration to entire story. Cropped artistically, eye level for us to easily engage in...crisp and clear on the drink with gentle softening into the depth of the image. Colour palette realistic and not overcooked. "Pretty as a picture"...an image made, not an image taken!
The chromatic aberration is still apparent on the edges of the trees. I tried the link that skkyangel provided and the only one that worked for me was the clone the edges technique. I think this would work for your image too. A good photograph with considered compositional style and cropping.
(5 years and 382 days ago)This is such a lovely scene. It is unfortunate that it is soft because it needs to be brilliantly sharp to show off the texture of the walls, the patterns which engage us quickly. Just this morning I received a great article on the importance of tripod use for landscape photographers. I have attached it for you to read and enjoy.

Naw then you lose the mountain which adds considerably to the story.
(5 years and 383 days ago)arrrrrggghhhh I was wrong...a happy snappy shot! Good eyes.
(5 years and 383 days ago)hmmmm will have to look at the "rules" again. I'm getting confused with post processing contest.
(5 years and 383 days ago)An ND filter will change your life, it is so much fun especially with running water. Try using your polarized sunglasses over your lens for another cool effect. f7.1 huh? I was close... Thank you.
