Sometimes we as viewers can see when a photo was snapped and when a photo was made. You made this shot, set it up nicely giving a good story. The only thing missing is a lit cigarette in the ashtray BUT BUT BUT ...that is a very personal thought on my part! ha Lovely with good dof manipulation.
(5 years and 384 days ago)This shows a great deal of creativity and your composition with gift as main focus is strong. I feel the crop and "visual weight" is well considered meaning you gave ample punch to the diffused background but still kept us focused on the story of your image. Very nicely done. I would brighten the bow a bit more so that it sparkles ...dodge to brighten. Lovely festive colour palette too! A strong contender.
(5 years and 384 days ago)Hey congrats, sure makes me want to go there!
(5 years and 384 days ago)Congrats! Looks so Canadian...brrrrr.
(5 years and 384 days ago)I just watched your link Skyangel, it is very good and I have bookmarked it. Thank you.
(5 years and 384 days ago)A path that beckons as it winds beyond. If you had highlighted (by using a ND filter) that bright sky to bring in the clouds it would be a stronger image, but that is just me. I'm wondering what your dof was....f8? ...the interior is soft. I attended a lecture and the presenter said that f13 is the best aperture to use for landscapes as there is no peripheral distortion. A very welcoming path.
(5 years and 384 days ago)Oh, I can see your husband/wife/partner hanging onto your ankles as you dangle to get this shot. Not only is the pov great but your tonal values are really well done with no blowouts on the bright aspects (the rocks below). The compositional style is strong and your technical is well handled. Lovely.
(5 years and 384 days ago)I studied this in high resolution and it looks much better but it is still quite soft. If you crop it slightly at the sides the shadow aspect would be lost and more attention would be on the path and sun's rays. Remember that cropping is an artistic tool, use it to your advantage. Lovely warm colours and a very evocative image full of mood....romantic mood!
(5 years and 384 days ago)Nice scene, however, did you take it whilst cycling on your bike or a moving car as it is very blurred? For such a beautiful scene you want to show it to us with clarity. The colours are lovely and warm.
(5 years and 384 days ago)Canada has legalized pot ! (did you get it)
(5 years and 384 days ago)I knew it was Ottawa because of all the marijuana growing around the boardwalk!
(5 years and 384 days ago)Looks a lot like Point Peely (sp?) south western Ontario. Nicely composed with good lead lines. Sharp through all the planes of the image. Good usage of dof!
(5 years and 384 days ago)Cloning marks have been left behind. Use your opacity slider to blend.
(5 years and 384 days ago)A pretty scene. The composition has been thought through. Have you tried a square format with dead center comoposition? (just for fun)
(5 years and 384 days ago)Lovely lead lines shown by the fence and the path itself winds us through the image. Have you considered cropping up to eliminate all that softness of the path at the bottom? The white halo effect around the tree....overprocessing?
(5 years and 384 days ago)There are so many things to love about this emotive upload. The grungy textural feel in the leaves, the texture on the graves , and soft dof in the leaves of the tree which helps frame (visually) the image. The darkness behind the graves further adds to a mysterious and spooky feel. The shadow light play is excellent and I like your crop with the path leading us into the image.
(5 years and 384 days ago)Hi, you have people showing in the photo...upper L hand aspect of image. That is against the contest rules. You might want to change it before you get a note from the mod.
(5 years and 385 days ago)A lovely camaraderie is caught here in the interaction these fellows are having, after the call. Nice photo . hmmmm 911....must be Canadian!
(5 years and 387 days ago)All three faces looking helter skelter, not unified. Perhaps you needed to wait for the right moment to capture the interaction, think you missed it here.
(5 years and 387 days ago)Just hanging about. The interaction could be stronger.
(5 years and 387 days ago)Good human interaction felt with this shot. They are sharing a joke and what in heaven's name is he holding?....a rat? No, I do not mind that you cropped off half a hat because it is about the interaction and you caught that well.
(5 years and 387 days ago)Have you considered colour? Sorry, just jerking your chains. The b/w gives it another era feel and you did a good job in the cropping, nice and tight but enough marginal space. Image is sharp with good range of gray tonality.
(5 years and 387 days ago)Good interaction shot with everyone having something to say whether verbally or in body language, well seen. You have to be careful with cropping a joints (knees) because it weakens the image as our eyes and brains tend to complete the photo and leave it quickly. I like the marginal space you have provided. A steady image.
(5 years and 387 days ago)I like everything about this staged photograph. The man in softness on the right gives us the feeling of them against us. It is a good thing you did not crop him out and the dead guy is fine with gun in hand , that is after all, how he fell!
(5 years and 387 days ago)This photo feels like a predatory prey scenario...a happy snappy shot.
(5 years and 387 days ago)I agree with skyangel and also would like to add that it is a shame we cannot see the face of grandma, but the story is there.
(5 years and 387 days ago)I like the fast shutter speed for you have frozen this action well. It is a sports shot which involves a lot of interaction. Well done.
(5 years and 387 days ago)Good that you stayed here instead of Genoa...eeks a close call huh!?
(5 years and 391 days ago)I'm still too busy to do anything here except review and look and get inspired. You are too kind.
(5 years and 391 days ago)Beauty and congrats on 2 and three.
(5 years and 391 days ago)KAPOW congrats Fred!
(5 years and 391 days ago)Congrats.
(5 years and 391 days ago)Good on you photonutsky!
(5 years and 391 days ago)Congrats Patty, this one was a wonderful shot.
(5 years and 391 days ago)Congrats on one and two!
(5 years and 391 days ago)Bonjour cherie....felicitations on your win!
(5 years and 391 days ago)Uh oh dust on sensor.
(5 years and 392 days ago)Time for us to come to Romania and visit your magical country. Nice work
(5 years and 392 days ago)Like that abstraction feel to this, creative and nice colour palette.
(5 years and 392 days ago)A Monet painting for sure! Good eye for seeing this beauty.
(5 years and 392 days ago)Good eye for seeing this and those little flowers just add a sigh to the image. Strong contender! Imaginative and out of the ordinary. Good work.
(5 years and 392 days ago)Sharp "as a woman's tongue" a very nice reflection, colourful, eye catching. Nice work and good eyes.
(5 years and 392 days ago)Brilliant, this one stopped my breath and made me say...."now why can't I take a photo like that!" ....a winner!
(5 years and 392 days ago)Good catch, draws me in.
(5 years and 423 days ago)powerful!
(5 years and 423 days ago)Catches our eyes and I like the grandeur of nature juxtaposed against whimsical man made colourful boats.
(5 years and 423 days ago)A greater dof would have worked too but this is artistic license. Nicel lead line takes our eyes into the image.
(5 years and 423 days ago)Check horizon line tilt to left. I wonder what it is I am seeing?
(5 years and 423 days ago)Great shot albeit a snappy happy touristy shot, but a good one.
(5 years and 423 days ago)Check your horizon line as it has a tilt to the left and your sensor needs cleaning as the dust spots show. I like the vast open feel to this but you have some black clipping right at the bottom.
