Cool, congrats again.
(5 years and 454 days ago)This one had real personality...congrats
(5 years and 454 days ago)Nice and congrats Photonut!
(5 years and 454 days ago)Congrats to you !
(5 years and 454 days ago)Although this is cliche you have done a great job. A strong entry.
(5 years and 455 days ago)A lot of work went into this and it is a great entry showing off your skill as a photochopper par excellence!
(5 years and 455 days ago)Thanks, I have saved your replies into a folder so I can refer to it when I need it.
(5 years and 455 days ago)I am drawn to the colour palette but not to the persons devoid of emotion.
(5 years and 456 days ago)Now my eyes have been opened. Yes I see the border. Thank you.
(5 years and 456 days ago)I have written down this valuable information for me so I don't forget to try it. I do not know how to pick a "source layer" but will google it. Thank you very much.
(5 years and 456 days ago)As viewers we can see that you thought about this image before you clicked it...it is a photograph made, not snapped. Like the artistry of this piece.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Clear, a photo well taken.
(5 years and 457 days ago)The tonal dynamic ranges on this are excellent.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Please tell me what you did to this in order NOT to make it look cut out and pasted on? It blends in really well. Good work.
(5 years and 457 days ago)I wonder if that man had a bit more shadow (like the art piece) if it would be a stronger chop?
(5 years and 457 days ago)Doll or Statue I like this and the colour palette works for me. You also included a nice shadow behind the "doll statue".
(5 years and 457 days ago)I like your post processing here and of course the chocolates (oh if only). You have a thin bar like hue running across the very top in the sky, did you mean for it to be there? Maybe just crop down to eliminate?
(5 years and 457 days ago)The floor and bench all look level now to me but the whole chop looks "cut out and pasted on" effect. There also seems to be an incongruity between the subjects who are dressed in woolies but are sitting inside a building. The balance is nice with good marginal space all around. My eyes would have preferred everything in focus but that is just me and I bow to your artistic prerogative.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Surreal and I really like the grungy feel, the two tone sepia-ish colouring. Shadows are realistic.
(5 years and 457 days ago)It seems to have that "cut out and pasted on" look about it (oh I struggle with that so much). Cannot tell you how to overcome this difficulty. The colour palette is really nice and calming.
(5 years and 457 days ago)You have two photos in one here. If you slice down half the page and crop down artistically, keeping the fine details of the 3 silouetted images you have one classy shot.(minus the pole) What you have up splits our visual attention with eyes going left to right to right to left and the power of the image has been lost. Taking this to monochrome was interesting but if the children were wearing brightly coloured bathing suits the colour would have added a bit more visual stimulation and excitement. I like this post and the creativity behind it.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Good to catch them at peak performance. Technical elements well done and your shutter speed was perfect!
(5 years and 457 days ago)Quite the tight crop but sharp as "a woman's tongue" and frozen well.
(5 years and 457 days ago)I like that play of 3 anchor points and how they visually tickle me. The three doors embedded into gray stone which gives a great textural feel, exposed perfectly for this diffused light kind of day. And even tho' the sky was very uncooperative for you this day it matters naught! Lovely.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Ahhh this draws on the eye beautifully.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Through and through, a nice catch. Your exposure is quite good for being in a difficult shooting spot.
(5 years and 457 days ago)A predator and prey kind of catch and a good one too.
(5 years and 457 days ago)Oh the mystery of a beautiful alley in a faraway country. You have captured this in an artistic creation, however, from a technical standpoint you do have a lot of noise most likely from a strong zoom. I like the two human figures there but had you waited for the waitress to disappear a lone human would have had a greater emotive pull. Still, it is a nice photograph.
(5 years and 457 days ago)I am reading your dialogue with held breath and disbelief.
(5 years and 457 days ago)When you put an image up on any site you are inviting and hoping for sensible, honest critiques from fellow artists, these comments are put forth to help you grow as an artist, and you may disagree with some, agree with others, but when comments are received with grace civility ensues.
I come to you from the photography side and I am constantly bellyaching because the reviews on photography are few and far between. In effect, what I’m trying to say is that critiquing is a tool by which the giver and receiver both learn in an atmosphere of sharing and caring. It is a wonderful opportunity whereby all can learn; even I can learn something from the detailed review given to you.
This is not evident here with pejorative, demeaning, derisive, sarcastic words thrown with aplomb at a caring and very generous reviewer who took the time to highlight and point out discrepancies in your upload.
Even though photography is an art form and the final results are considered an artistic expression of your thoughts and ideas there is a very strong technical element and I agree with all that the reviewer has stated whether viewed in print, high resolution, blown up to a squigillion pixels, scaled up or scaled down, the errors, artifacts, blow outs are clearly seen.
I for one, am very grateful for this in-depth review given by a caring teacher, a top-notch photo chopper for through his gracious and generous teaching I have learned something that I will apply to my work.
Thank you both......to the author for your creative vision which is both unique and capricious and for stimulating my gray cells and to the reviewer for your in-depth, clear and constructive critique, I appreciate both of you.
Thank you.
(5 years and 458 days ago)Hey, that is good advertising! You can still take this down and re-upload, but I don't think it matters because most of us don't know you as Fred. (but the secret is out now )
(5 years and 459 days ago)I like this one better because the focus is more on the smoke and the colour palette of blue further softens this visually (means it looks smokier).
(5 years and 459 days ago)Good grief! Where there is smoke there is fire. Smoke well caught and the fire holds us to your image.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Just looked through your website, some lovely images there, Fred. Life in Rotterdam looks anything but boring! I like this upload but wish to know more about it.
(5 years and 459 days ago)A fun photograph, from the planet, verdant!
(5 years and 459 days ago)Thank God for these hands that help to feed us. The photo is a tad soft on the hands, but I like the way you have included the meat around, framing the main focal point.
(5 years and 459 days ago)I'm dying to see the entire thingee he is painting. The story of the hands of a painter is strong tho'.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Strong photo, no muss no fuss...we get it instantly. Technically well done as well.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Your perspective is cracking great! There is a lot of information here for the eyes to take in making it busy. A crop at the very bottom may change the dynamic somewhat.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Nice idea, a tad soft though. Good composition.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Did you put a bit of a tint on this because it seems two-toned almost, great catch.
(5 years and 459 days ago)What a personality!
(5 years and 459 days ago)I lined up the concrete at the top and it is level, mind you, it is an old door after all.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Check the tilt in this photo please. A door that speaks to us of a life richly lived and a history.
(5 years and 459 days ago)Firenze, j't'adore! The Florence Marathon passes by these doors. Wonderful shot.
(5 years and 459 days ago)This is a photograph that was not just snapped but a lot of thought went into the creative aspect of giving us something unique. To me, it sings in three-part harmony with shapes and colours that are balanced and tickle the visual pathways. Technically also very nicely accomplished. The focus is GLASSES and I think a bit more of a crop at the right would pull that element closer to us, but that is artistic prerogative and I bow to yours. A photograph made, not taken....good and inspirational.
(5 years and 460 days ago)Good solid shot taken at eye level and although snappy I like the creativity that went into presenting these glasses to the public.
(5 years and 460 days ago)Hmmm I think the rule applies that no glasses on people, reflections I hope are acceptable. There is much to see in this upload, the "bits and bats" are quite scattered throughout.
(5 years and 460 days ago)Some of us didn't want to break our cameras Not many participating in these contests lately and that is sad....what could be done to make this pxyleyes site more "vibrant"?
(5 years and 460 days ago)Congrats on number two, nice one.
